Wimbledon Preview – Will the Dons’ winless run end on Tuesday?

Mark Robinson’s Wimbledon hover just above the drop zone in League One. After 27 matches played, the Dons have won six, drawn 11 and lost ten. Along the way, they have scored 32 and shipped 40.

Wimbledon’s last league win came away at Accrington Stanley in early December, with Luke McCormick and Ayoub Assal on target in a 2-0 victory. Since then, the London club have drawn five and lost three of their following eight in League One.

Our betting prediction:
Both teams to score
10/11

Despite their long winless run, Wimbledon have drawn four of their previous five in the league. Last time out, Robinson’s troops drew 1-1 at home with Shrewsbury Town. Can they secure a priceless three points on home soil in midweek? The bookies are offering 11/8 for the hosts to prevail.

Cheltenham Town Preview – Can the Robins seal a first win since November?

Cheltenham Town are in 17th position right now, three points above 20th-place Wimbledon. The Robins, who won the EFL League Two title last term, have picked up seven wins, suffered ten defeats and drawn 11 times.

Like the Dons, Cheltenham have also been on a poor winless run in the league. Since beating Gillingham in late November, which was a third straight league success, Town have gone on to draw six and lose four of ten League One matches.

Cheltenham will be desperate to get back to winning ways after dropping closer and closer to the bottom three. Having said that, a point would not be a bad result in the circumstances.

Wimbledon vs Cheltenham Town Betting Advice

These two met in a thrilling FA Cup tie in early December. Wimbledon edged a seven-goal game at Plough Lane, as Ayoub Assal and Ollie Palmer both netted braces in the 4-3 Dons victory.

Tuesday’s clash will be the first league meeting between Wimbledon and Cheltenham since the 2014-15 League Two season. Both games that term ended in 1-1 draws.

Key Facts – Wimbledon vs Cheltenham Town Betting Tip

  • Wimbledon have drawn five and lost three of their last eight league games
  • Cheltenham are without a win in ten League One matches (six defeats, four draws)
  • There were seven goals scored when the pair met in the FA Cup in December

If December’s cup tie is anything to go by, we could be in for an entertaining encounter at Plough Lane. Both teams are desperate for the points, but we fancy the pair to cancel each other out. You can get 7/2 for the draw and both teams to score.

Ayoub Assal scored twice for Wimbledon in the FA Cup meeting against Cheltenham. The 20-year-old was also on target in last weekend’s draw with Shrewsbury. Assal is available at 11/1 to score first in this one.
