Wolves opened up a 10-point lead at the top of the Championship following their top-of-the-table 2-1 win away at Bristol City, and they now return to Molineux on the back of an impressive 11-match sequence without defeat.

Wolves have been impressive all season, not least on home turf where they’ve posted a solid record of  9-2-1  25/10 with Cardiff City being the only side to walk away from the west midlands club with all three points, while the hosts have won seven of their last eight in the second tier.

Creative midfielder Diego Jota (10 goals) and forward Bonatini (12 goals) have taken all the plaudits, but the squad overall have clicked under new manager Nuno Espirito Santo, and they look in a very strong position now to achieve automatic promotion back up to the Premier League after several ordinary campaigns in the Championship.

Visitors Brentford have achieved a more modest return so far in this season’s Championship, but 10th place in the second tier is still a good campaign to date, particularly at Griffin Park where they too have suffered just the one defeat all season.

The Bees come into this clash on the back of three league wins on the trot with victories carved out over Norwich City, Aston Villa and Sheffield Wednesday, all of whom were expected to be making serious challenges for a play-off place come May.

However, Brentford’s consistency has been lacking on their travels as they possess an ordinary looking away record of  4-3-5  17/17 which includes wins at Birmingham City and Norwich City, but these successes have been offset by losses at Cardiff City and Hull City.

Wolves are on fire at the moment and their win over Bristol City at Ashton Gate was a clear statement to the rest of the division.
