This weekend sees the return of the Premier League following a brief hiatus due to the international break, but we’re back in full swing on Saturday with Wolves taking on Chelsea as the betting tips continue at Molineux.

Wolves Prediction – Can Wolves claim first win of season?

It’s been a slow start to this new term for last season’s surprise package, Wolves, following three draws and a defeat in their opening four matches of this new Premier League campaign, which has left Nuno Espirito Santos’s side hovering just above the early relegation zone.

Stalemates against Leicester City, Manchester United and Burnley in 0-0, 1-1 and 1-1 draws respectively looked like being another solid foundation from which Wolves were going to build from but they tasted defeat last time out away at Everton just before the international break, leaving Wolves without a win from their first 4 matches of the season.

A 2-0 defeat to Liverpool at the end of last season means it’s now 5 matches without a win in the top flight for the west midlands club, who took 4 points off Chelsea last season with a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge and a 2-1 win at Molineux.

Of course, Wolves weren’t involved in Europe last term, and their progression through to the group stages of this season’s Europa League, whilst commendable, may well test the hosts’ resources to their limits.

Chelsea Prediction – Can Chelsea extend unbeaten run?

After being handed a heavy 4-0 rout at the hands of Manchester United at Old Trafford on the opening day of this new season, Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard, may have just been sweating a little over his new appointment at the helm of his former club as a player, but he and Chelsea have since steadied the ship.

A 1-1 draw at home with Leicester City was followed by a predictably lively and high-scoring encounter at Carrow Road in a 3-2 win over Norwich City, and The Blues further extended their recovery with a 2-2 draw at home with Sheffield United although Chelsea will be kicking themselves after holding a 2-0 lead and effectively let 2 points slip out of their grasp.

Lampard will be keen that his side maintain their pressure upon a slightly wobbly Wolves outfit on Saturday afternoon as the hosts now have to contend with European football during the week, and although there’s been a welcome break due to the international matches, Wolves may have one eye on their upcoming fixture with Sporting Braga on Thursday night.

For their part, Chelsea have an upcoming Champions League match with Valencia, so this will be an interesting clash between two teams that are balancing domestic progress with European commitments.

Key-Facts – Wolves v Chelsea

  • Wolves are still without a win in this season’s Premier League
  • Chelsea have won just 3 of their last 11 away matches in the EPL
  • Both teams have midweek European matches during next week

Betting Tips Verdict

Wolves will be starting to get a little edgy if their winless run continues while a point on the road at Molineux wouldn’t be the end of the world for Chelsea. The visitors might even nick this one.
