WOLVES v ROTHERHAM UNITED

Football – England – Championship Betting Tips

Saturday afternoon brings us a crucial battle in the relegation zone between hosts Wolves and visitors Rotherham United at Molineux in what may not be a ‘six-pointer’ due to how far Rotherham are behind the rest of the division, but nevertheless, a crucial match for Wolves.

Wolves ended a miserable run of five Championship defeats on the trot when they picked up a valuable point away at Ipswich Town in a 0-0 draw during the week, and this was enough to keep them from dropping into the bottom three for the time being.

But recent defeats to Burton Albion, Newcastle United, Wigan Athletic, west midlands rivals Birmingham City and Reading have ensured a nervous run-in for Wolves and will be a severe test for manager Paul Lambert who will be looking to steer his side to safety.

Visitors Rotherham United’s position in the Championship now appears hopeless as they fell to a fifth straight defeat in a 2-0 loss at home to Brighton in midweek, and this defeat has left them 17 points adrift of second from bottom Wigan Athletic and 19 points adrift of today’s opponents, Wolves.

Rotherham now look to be condemned to League One football next term as they’ve now gone ten league matches without a win, while their results away from home have seen The Millers lose their last ten matches on the trot.

Unsurprisingly, Rotherham possess a poor away record which stands at  0-1-17  12/52 as they still search for their first away win of the season, in addition to conceding the most goals away from home in the division by a fair margin.

Wolves are no world-beaters, but Rotherham are by the far the worst team the Championship has seen for many seasons.
