Spurs to enjoy another away day

Premier League Tips

Saturday 3rd November 1945hrs Wolves v Tottenham Football – England – Premier League It must feel a bit like Christmas for Tottenham at the moment with the games coming thick and fast in all competitions as they travel to Molineux to face their third game in five days this week. It’s a remarkable run of games which shows little sign of slowing down and their hosts will be looking to take advantage of that by getting their own season back on track after a sticky patch. It’s a really attractive looking game on paper and lets hope it lives up to the hype. Continue reading for a match preview of Wolves versus Tottenham with a selected best betting tip.

Wolves appeared to have adapted seamlessly to life in the Premier League following their domination of last season’s Championship as they lost only one of their first 10 matches and managed draws against both Manchester clubs, deserved at that. It’s gone slightly awry of late, losing their last two games without scoring a goal and they were against opponents who they may have felt they’d be able to continue their good run against. It’s not been the case and Wolves are now getting a feel for how unforgiving the Premier League can be. The biggest concern for Nuno Espirito Santo will be the lack of goals his team are scoring, currently averaging less than a goal a game. The quality of their football is there for all to see and whilst creating opportunities is not the issue, creating goal scoring chances and taking them is definitely in need of improvement. There’s little the coach can do personnel wise until the January transfer window so it’s up to the current players to find a solution. Raul Jiminez has been the first-choice striker since arriving from Benfica but he’s never been prolific in Europe and has to do more to justify what would be a club record fee when he signs permanently.

Due to the ongoing delay in moving into their new stadium Tottenham are having to adjust and adapt to their scheduling of games which is only heightened with their win over West Ham in the EFL Cup on Wednesday that seems them reach the quarter final, which happens to be against North London rivals Arsenal. That came only 48 hours after losing at home (well, at Wembley) to Manchester City in the league. The loss was their first domestic defeat since losing to Liverpool and combined with their disappointing Champions League campaign has people once again questioning their ability to win big games. Spurs are currently in fifth spot, one point outside the top four and they’ll be irritated even more knowing it’s Arsenal who occupy that final Champions League spot. There’s an awful lot of football remaining to be played of course and it would be foolish to suggest that this is the start of a downward spiral for Mauricio Pochettino’s team but they have to get back to winning ways in the league and try to revive their fading hopes in Europe in these next few days.

Wolves v Tottenham Betting Tip

This games sees two managers who have very similar views on how the game should be played and luckily for any neutral’s watching, it tends to be a very attractive style. It can be criticised for sometimes not being direct enough or being too possession based but there will be a plethora of highly technical players on show at Molineux, particularly with Christian Eriksen and Dele Ali returning to the fold for Tottenham, a duo who have been badly missed.

Interestingly, Tottenham have a much higher possession rating than Wolves but they fewer shots yet have scored seven more goals in the league already. It confirms my point above that Wolves have to create better opportunities in front of goal to start turning good performances into wins. It will be difficult for them on Saturday, though, as their opponents have been excellent on their travels in the league this season winning five and losing just the once – that defeat coming at Watford back in early September. Poch rotated his squad on Wednesday but it didn’t hinder his team’s performance any in the cup win over West Ham and the returning stars can continue the winning run on the road by taking a valuable three points against a Wolves team who have just stuttered of late.
