Wolves – Results finally aligning with performances?

Nelson Semedo’s clumsy challenge in the dying embers of the game at Elland Road last Saturday was all that stood between Wolves and a fourth straight league win. It was a bitterly frustrating conclusion to another solid performance from Bruno Lage’s team, who were well on course to win the xG battle for the eighth game in nine this season until Leeds struck home a 94th minute penalty to level at 1-1.

The draw in South Yorkshire continued some excellent form however. Wolves responded positively to what was a slow start under a new and relatively inexperienced manager. Since losing their opening three league fixtures, Wanderers have taken 13 of a possible 18 points (W4 D1 L1), while only Premier League leaders Chelsea (5) have won more games than the four of Wolves since the beginning of September.

Aside from one poor display at home to Brentford, this is a side which continues to churn out strong collective performances. Only three teams, all of whom occupy the top three positions in the Premier League table, have conceded fewer than the nine of Wolves although this has so far produced just two clean sheets. Neither of were here at Molineux, though, where they have picked up three points all season (W1 L3).

Everton – Bentiez demanding response from Watford shocker?

For a manager who, if we put it mildly, wasn’t universally popular among supporters when it was announced in the summer that he would succeed Real Madrid bound Carlo Ancelotti, these are slightly worrying times. After all, this is a fan base which doesn’t need an awful lot to turn on the man in charge. So a run of one win in five Premier League games (D1 L3) might have even Rafael Benitez anxious.

Those anxiety levels will only increase further with one glance at the upcoming schedule. After Monday’s visit to Wolves comes a run of six games in eight against last season’s top-eight, with Chelsea, Liverpool and Man City all to come before Christmas. They’ll approach those fixtures with trepidation no doubt, especially on the back of last week’s embarrassing capitulation against struggling Watford.

Having twice taken the lead against Claudio Ranieri’s side, the Toffees somehow came unstuck, becoming only the third team in Premier League history to concede four times inside the final 15 minutes as they lost 5-2 at Goodison Park. Meanwhile, away from Merseyside, Everton remain inconsistent, winning one of four such matches this season (D2 L1), with an ever-growing injury list clearly not helping their cause.

Wolves Vs Everton Betting Advice

After one win in five Premier League games, the sight of Wolves should come as welcome relief for Everton who are seeking their third straight win in this fixture having won home and away last season. Furthermore, Wolves boast a solitary win (3-0, July 2020) in their last six when hosting the Toffees. By that reckoning, the visitors retain plenty of appeal, with it 7/10 they depart West Midlands with at least a point.

Wolves Vs Everton – Key Facts:

  • Last season saw Everton record home and away wins over Wolves in the Premier League, the Toffees doing so by a single goal both times (1-0 at home, 2-1 away).
  • With that 2-1 loss at Molineux last season, it means Wolves have one win in their last six Premier League home games against Everton (D3 L2).
  • Wolves’ toils at home aren’t limited to Everton, however. Bruno Lage’s men have one win from four home league games in 2021-22 (W1 L3) – with that against second-from-bottom Newcastle.

Recent form, however, counts against Rafael Benitez’s beleaguered side. The Spaniard enjoyed a promising start to his tenure back on Merseyside, winning four of his first six league games, but has since seen his team fail to win in three (D1 L2). Conversely, Wolves are in the ascendency, unbeaten in four having won four of the last six. Yet their record at home remains poor enough (W1 L3) to deter a bet on the hosts.
