Wolves and Leicester are fresh from their mini-winter break and looking for three Premier League points on Friday. The visitors could take a massive step to securing Champions League football with victory.

Wolves Preview – Will Wolves make it just two wins in seven games to boost hopes of a top four finish?

The battle for fourth place and qualification for next season’s Champions League looks set to be the most entertaining at the top end of the table. Liverpool are champions-elect and second and third look as though they are also sorted. It leaves six teams competing for one spot and Wolves are the current outsider of that pack.
Sitting in ninth heading into this game Wolves are six points behind Chelsea and need to put a run together if they are to narrow that gap. With just one win in their last six game then the winter break will hopefully have come at the right time for a team who started their competitive season in July.

A two week break may not seem like a huge amount of time but it was much-needed for Wolves. Nuno Espirito Santo’s team have not only played a league high of 41 games already this season, they are straight back into European competition next week which will be at least two further games.
Considering the coach’s philosophy and desire to use a small number of players it’s stretched the squad to the maximum. That said, Champions League football is the next step in the progression of Wolves and they have two lives chances approaching the business end of the season.

Leicester City Preview – Can Foxes continue excellent away form and take a big step towards Champions League football?

Leicester went into their winter break on something of a downer. Brendan Rodgers men’s failure to reach the final of the EFL Cup was definitely a disappointment and coupled with a stuttering spell in the league means it was a good time for them to get away and assess what’s needed to achieve their objectives in the second half of the season.

Despite winning three of their last nine league games Leicester are still in an excellent position to finish in the top four where they have been virtually the whole season. Qualification for the Champions League would have been a brilliant achievement by any standard and they are well on their way to doing that.

One of the key reasons for Leicester maintain their position in the top four is their excellent consistency on the road. The Foxes have won seven away matches so far and six of their last eight. There was disappointment in their most recent away game when going down 2-1 to Burnley, however.

The break would also have been a help for Jamie Vardy. The Premier League top scorer was playing through injury at the start of the year and he should be much sharper going into this game.

Wolves vs Leicester City Betting Advice

These two teams are clubs with promising futures ahead of them and Champions League football is only going to enhance that. Leicester look very likely to achieve that this season whilst Wolves have work to do if they are to join them.
Despite the 14 points between them there is probably little to choose between them when at their best. That was certainly the case back in August when they played out a goalless draw.

Key Facts – Wolves vs Leicester City Betting Tip

  • Wolves are still in the mix for fourth place and can move to within three points of Chelsea
  • Only Liverpool and Manchester City have won more games away from home this season than Leicester
  • There was nothing to separate the two when playing out a goalless draw earlier in the season

Eight of Leicester’s last 11 away games have had at least three goals in them. Wolves’ home matches do not contain as many goals but 10 of their 12 games have seen both teams scoring and that is the betting tip for Friday’s game at Molineux.
