Championship side Wycombe have a huge task on their hands on Monday night in the FA Cup.

They will be hosting Premier League side Tottenham, having not played a game since January 9th.

Back in 2017 the Chairboys came close to knowing Spurs out of the competition as they were holding a lead in the 89th minute, but couldn’t hold out.

What fight can they put up in this one?

Wycombe Preview – What do the Chairboys have to offer?

Because of situations beyond their control, Wycombe have not played since January 9th.

So they are not coming into this match sharp, but boss Gareth Ainsworth has stated that they should have enough fit players.

He was in charge back in 2017 when the Chairboys were leading 3-2 in the 89th minute at White Hart Lane against Spurs in the FA Cup.

But Wycombe were undone with late goals from Dele Alli and Son Heung-min on that day.

That was the first ever game played between Wycombe and Tottenham.

This will be the ninth FA Cup tie for Wycome against a team from the top flight and they have lost seven of the previous eight.

Their lone win in that sequence happened against Leicester in the 2000/01 season when Wycombe went on to reach the semi finals.

Wycombe are huge 11/1 underdogs for this cup tie* (odds recorded 2211 GMT Sunday, 24th January 2021).

Because they haven’t played much football recently, this just becomes an even tougher test for the Championship side.

Our betting prediction:
Spurs To Win & BTTS
6/4

The Chairboys are bottom of the Championship having won only three games during the league campaign.

In the third round of the FA Cup Wycombe took a resounding 4-1 home win over Preston at Adams Park.

That took them to a W3 D3 L3 record there in their last nine home games across all competitions.

They haven’t banked a clean sheet in any of their last six home games, but have scored in each of their last five.

A both teams to score option in the fixture is at 4/5* (odds recorded 2211 GMT Sunday, 24th January 2021).

Tottenham Preview – Can Spurs handle themselves at Adams Park?

Tottenham will be expected to get through this tie with some comfort as the 1/5 favourites* (odds recorded 2211 GMT Sunday, 24th January 2021).

In the last round they went to non-league Marine and took a comfortable 5-0 win to open their campaign.

Across all competitions Spurs are on a seven match unbeaten streak of form, winning five of those.

They have only lost twice in all competitions on their travels this season.

It’s been a fine W10 D4 L2 away record from Jose Mourinho’s men.

Spurs have hit the back of the net in each of their last seven road games in all competitions.

They have only one clean sheet in that sequence.

Therefore for FA Cup betting a Tottenham to win & Both Teams To Score otpoin may pique some interest at 6/4* (odds recorded 2211 GMT Sunday, 24th January 2021).

In 20 of their 21 FA Cup ties against teams from a lower division, Tottenham have managed to progress.

So the track record is certainly there.

Tottenham did send out some of their big guns in that trip to Marine in the last round of the competition.

So we would expect them to do the same.

In the anytime goalscorer market, Lucas Moura is at 11/10 odds* (odds recorded 2211 GMT Sunday, 24th January 2021).

He has been involved in 9 goals in 11 FA Cup games for Tottenham since February 2018 (4 goals, 5 assists).

In four of their last seven away games, Tottenahm have scored at least three goals.

Wycombe vs Tottenham Betting Advice

We imagine that this is going to be fairly comfortable for Spurs at Adams Park giving their opponents haven’t’ played since the third round.

They should be good for at least a two-goal margin we would imagine.

A Spurs -1.75 Asian Handicap is at 4/5 for FA Cup betting* (odds recorded 2211 GMT Sunday, 24th January 2021).

The Premier League side have the quality in them to put this tie to bed.

Key Facts – Wycombe vs Tottenham Betting Tip

  • Wycombe lost 4-3 to Tottenahm in their one previous meeting
  • Wycombe have not played since the Third Round on January 9th
  • Tottenham have won 10 of 16 away games in all competitions this season

Wycome were so close to knocking out Spurs back in that dramatic 2017 FA Cup clash in North London.

But there’s little suggestion that they are going to put up too much resistance against the top-flight team this time.

But can they at least get a consolation on the board?

A Spurs to win & BTTS option at 6/4 may be worth a play at for some extended odds* (odds recorded 2211 GMT Sunday, 24th January 2021).
