De Jong desperate for silverware

Manchester City (5/4 Premier League outright ) midfielder Nigel De Jong has insisted his side can’t settle for a season without silverware this term, as they battle for both the Premier League and Europa League titles. The Citizens are preparing for their European clash with Sporting Lisbon on Thursday night, with the Blues hoping to overturn a one-goal deficit from the first-leg in Portugal (City 2/7, draw 9/2, Sporting 10/1 Match Betting ). City recently conceded their place at the top of the Premier League table to rivals Manchester United and have 10 games, including a derby clash at the Etihad Stadium, to make sure they finish top of the pile. De Jong is adamant a season without silverware would be unacceptable and has urged his squad to push for both titles this term, having tasted success with the FA Cup last year. The Dutch international said: “We always said at the beginning of the season we wanted to compete to win as many competitions as we can. “We have come so far and we have just got to fight and concentrate until the end. “Our main goal is the Premier League, that doesn’t change, but we’re still in the Europa League and the only way we can succeed this season is to win one of the prizes.”
