Lescott looking for Tevez boost

Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott believes the return of Carlos Tevez to the side will give them a major boost in their quest for Premier League glory ( City 5/4 Premier League outright ). It previously looked as if the Argentine would never play for the Citizens again, following his well-publicised row with boss Roberto Mancini. However, after failing to seal a move away from the Etihad Stadium in January, the striker has apologised to the manager and is now back in full training. The controversial star has recently been turning out for the club’s reserve side and has impressed enough to be considered for selection for Wednesday’s vital home match against Chelsea ( City 4/5, draw 12/5 Chelsea 11/4 ). Lescott admits that, although the squad were angry with Tevez over the situation, they’re now fully behind him and the England defender is confident the former skipper can rediscover the form that previously made him a hero at the club. “He’s like a new signing. He’s not been injured so he is not going to be struggling too much in terms of sharpness and fitness,” Lescott told Sky Sports News. “All the boys are excited and can’t wait for him to get playing again.”
