Art Power to open Friday's Ascot action with a win

Horse Racing Betting

The opening act of Friday’s Royal Ascot card is the Palace of Holyroodhouse Handicap, which is a Class 2 fixture. Only 3 year olds can take part in this particular handicap action.

It is a quick sprint over 5f at the famous course with a big 22 declared for the race. It is likely to be an enthralling, wide-open contest as well.

Can Art Power paint success for Tim Easterby?

ART POWER had a successful return to action when he stepped out at Newcastle earlier this month. It was a massively convincing win as well, collecting the victory by five and a half lengths. The Tim Easterby-trained charge is looking like a great sprinter and has a big chance in this one.

He really arrived when scoring at York in October at 5f in a field of nine. That just highlighted the pace that he has in the tank. His run at Ascot on Friday will be just his fourth racetrack appearance. Art Power is sat at a great mark of 96 for this one as well and is looking like the one to beat as the 5/2 favourite* (Betting odds taken from Coral at 04:40 GMT on Thursday, 18th June 2020).

ART POWER
5/2

KEEP BUSY

Filly KEEP BUSY looked in great shape recently on a 5f Sandown trip. She claimed second place in that contest although was nowhere near the winner. But that was a good progressive run from her after returning with a 7th of 13 at Newcastle earlier this month at 6f.

The potential is there, as shown in her success at Chantilly last November in Listed company. There was plenty on offer from her as a two year old and has to be kept on the shortlist for this contest at 10/1 odds* (Betting odds taken from Coral at 04:40 GMT on Thursday, 18th June 2020).

WILL TO WIN

A big threat to the favourite could well be WILL TO WIN who is in superb form. He’s at the same mark of 97 for this one as Art Power as well. The gelding has scored a win in four of his last five races, all at 6f.

His last trip was at Lingfield in early March when he was second to Corvair. Will To Win is coming on leaps and bounds and after such a progressive winter, returns after 107 days looking like he has every chance of entering the calculations at 6/1* (Betting odds taken from Coral at 04:40 GMT on Thursday, 18th June 2020).

DANCIN INTHESTREET

We are looking down at the low end of the handicap rating for this one at filly DANCIN INTHESTREET. She scored a good win at Lingfield in late November on the all-weather and was in touch for a while with winner Maystar in a Wolverhampton contest after.

She returned from a break in early June with a very solid third place finish at Haydock. That was her first effort at the 5f distance and she looked good in it and is a solid 12/1 quote* (Betting odds taken from Coral at 04:40 GMT on Thursday, 18th June 2020).

MAYSTAR

MAYSTAR scored a good win at Wolverhampton at 6f in early December. He also collected a 5f success at Southwell on the all-weather too last year. After posited a runners-up spot at Chantilly in mid-March on his last effort, he may bring some claims to proceedings from 10/1* (Betting odds taken from Coral at 04:40 GMT on Thursday, 18th June 2020).

Other Contenders

NEVER DARK brings some form after scoring in his return over 5f at Kempton recently. There was a lot of strength produced by him in that effort as well, travelling really well. The thing is he came up with a huge 9lb for this trip.

ELECTRIC LADYLAND will have a 5lb penalty on her for a score at Goodwood less than a week ago. Despite that she has to be highly respected here as she scored three times as a juvenile at the 5f distance, albeit all on all-weather.

The final one that we will look at in this big field is TRIPLE SPEAR who is another that gets a 5lb penalty for a recent success. He has had a busy year and nailed a 5f handicap at Haydock on his last trip as he showed plenty at the end of the race to get the win. Place claims are there.

Predictions & Tips

There are some good youngsters in this one. We are going to go straight to WILL TO WIN who looks a big threat now at this distance. He has been well treated in the handicap and should be able to run the favourite close.

There’s no doubt that ART POWER is likely to cause a threat in this one and he has to be kept on side without question.

Having some appeal is MAYSTAR who is a good horse and will likely shine on coming back down in trip. This will be a handicap bow but carries some big credentials.

For our outside pick that will be 20/1 shot ELECTRIC LADYLAND who may have enough to handle a 5lb rise based on her current form* (Betting odds taken from Coral at 04:40 GMT on Thursday, 18th June 2020). There was plenty there as a juvenile and she can push on.
