13:20 Supreme Novices Hurdle Betting Odds & Tips: Cheltenham 2021 – 16th March 2021

Appreciate It the one to beat in Supreme Novices at Cheltenham 2021

Horse Racing Betting

This is the curtain-raiser to the Cheltenham Festival 2021. There will be no great Cheltenham roar to be heard as the action is behind closed doors.

But Supreme Novices’ is the opening showcase event of the four-day festival. It is APPRECIATE IT who is the current strong favourite to win it.

The Supreme Novice’ is a Grade 1 race open to 4 year olds and above. The race is over a 2m trip.

Last year’s winner was 6 year old SHISHKIN from a 6/1 SP (Nico de Boinville / N J Henderson)

Appreciate It the strong fav in Supreme Novices’ Hurdle betting odds

The strong favourite at 10/11 currently in Supreme Novices’ hurdle betting is APPRECIATE IT* (betting odds recorded at 20:00 GMT on 15th March 2021 at Paddy Power).

The Willie Mullins-trained seven year old had very smart bumper form. He has translated that over to some superb hurdles efforts.

It has been three wins from three for him over the timbers.

The latest of those was in the Grade 1 Chanelle Pharma Novices’ Hurdle at Leopardstown in February.

That was a really eye-catching run from him and he looks to have plenty more to bring to the table as well.

It gives trainer Willie Mullins a great chance of landing his fifth win in the last nine renewals.

Appreciate It was the runner up in last year’s Champion Bumper and is going from strength to strength. He sets the standard.

Can Metier upset the odds?

Another of the contenders in his race who has made a really promising start to life over the hurdles is METIER.

After proving to be quite useful on the flat, he has taken to the timbers very well, winning all three efforts so far.

The most recent of those hurdles victories was in the Grade 1 Tolworth. On the back of that he is going to pose a pretty big threat.

That victory in the Tolworth was by 12l over Shakem Up’arry which was extremely impressive.

But just two of the previous 38 winners of the Supreme Novices have come directly from the Tolworth.

Given that this is a smaller Supreme Novices’ field than usual, Metier should have a chance though at really getting in the frame.

Ballyadam in with a decent shout

BALLYADAM has already encountered Appreciate It a couple of times this season.

He was nowhere near his opponent in December when he was 16l behind the winner.

Before that however he exploded into form when he took a Grade 1 at Fairyhouse. But he has since been exposed a bit by Appreciate It.

So can Ballyadam turn the tables in this big one?

To be fair on his latest run in the Grade 1 Channel Parham Novices’ hurdle at Leopardstown, he got a lot closer to his revival, finishing second within three and a quarter lengths.

So it is that which may offer supporters of Ballyadam a bit of hope that perhaps he could close the gap even further?

But there’s no denying that he looks as if he is going to need to find a little bit more on the table to get the score.

While strong place claims are there he looks as if may have to settle for a place behind Appreciate It.

Soaring Glory looks for a double

SOARING GLORY is coming back to novice company here. He also gets the cheek pieces on for the first time, so can’t totally be counted out of this.

He was last seen three weeks ago when he picked up a win in the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury. That was an impressive score that he took in that as well.

Coming in at a 17/2 quote to get the win in Supreme Novices betting there is a quality gap at the moment between Soaring Glory and some other contenders.

However, if he can build on that excellent Betfair Hurdle win, which was his second success of the campaign, he could have a say in the scrap for a money place.

Blue Lord respected for Willie Mullins

The ex-French flat winner BLUE LORD has been making very good progress for Willie Mullins over the hurdle. It’s been three runs in this sphere for him.

Blue Lord won his hurdles debut and has improved with each run.

The latest of his efforts was at the Grade 1 Chanelle Pharma Novices’ Hurdle at Leopardstown. He was third behind Appreciate It and Ballyadam in that one.

So he’s not to be totally ruled out of this because he is on a good upward curve at the moment.

Blue Lord comes in as a 10/1 shot in Supreme Novices’ Hurdle betting odds* (betting odds recorded at 20:00 GMT on 15th March 2021 at Paddy Power).

The Rest Of The Runners

FOR PLEASURE has won four of six hurdles efforts this season, opening the campaign with a hat trick. He was bang in form over the first half of the season.

The pick of those was a course and distance win in a Grade 2 novices in November. It is his form which raises a big question though.

For Pleasure went to the Betfair Hurdle and looked to be out of his depth, being well held in the fixture and based on that has a lot to find in this stiff company as well.

GRUMPY CHARLEY is sitting on a four-timer and he is a good progressive type.

He scored his hattrick just under three weeks ago with a 2m success at Chepstow on what was his handicap debut.

He is prone to a bit of a wobble in concentration, but he looks to be steadily getting it together.

IRASCIBLE was fifth at the Grade 1 Chanelle Pharma Novices’ Hurdle behind winner Appreciate It and a couple of others that he re-opposes here.

Irascible picked up a win on his opening effort of the season for Henry de Bromhead in a Clonmel maiden, but this looks like a much more difficult assignment for him.

Predictions & Tips for Supreme Novices’ Hurdle Racing Odds

We can’t find a reason to oppose APPRECIATE IT as the 10/11 odds-on favorite* (betting odds recorded at 20:00 GMT on 15th March 2021 at Paddy Power).

He looks something special and by no means done progressing.

He is just thriving at the moment. Having beaten Ballyadam comfortably in meetings this season already, we don’t see Appreciate It missing the mark here for Willie Millins.

METIER’s form hasn’t really been franked lately. Therefore we think that even though he was impressive in the Tolworth, he’s not going to have enough.

Nor so BALLYADAM, but they both look to have reasonable place claims.

Appreciate It’s stablemate BLUE LORD piques a little bit of interest.

Even though he may find the 2m just a little too sharp for him again against some fantastic company, we Blue Lord he has something to offer in Supreme Novices’ Hurdle betting as a 10/1 e/w pick* (betting odds recorded at 20:00 GMT on 15th March 2021 at Paddy Power).
