13:30 Aintree Becher Handicap Chase: William Hill offer 5/1 odds on Le Breuil – 25th December 2020

Becher Handicap Chase

Horse Racing Betting

Coming from the big day of racing at Aintree on Saturday is the Becher Handicap Chase. This is a Grade 3 trip over the National Course.

It’s a long 3m 2f grind for the 15 declared runners who are in the mix.

Heading up the market currently are Le Breuil and Walk In The Mill who are joint 5/1 favourites* (betting odds correct as of 16:28 GMT on Friday, December 24th from William Hill).

Last year’s winner was WALK IN THE MILL from an 8/1 SP (James Best / R Walford) so will he be able to rattle off what would be an astonishing hat-trick in this fixture?

Le Breuil a 5/1 contender for Becher Handicap Chase

It will be all eyes on LE BREUIL who is being fancied to lower the flag of WALK IN THE MILL in the Becher Handicap Chase from 5/1* (betting odds correct as of 16:28 GMT on Friday, December 24th).

He was in this contest a year ago from a mark of 9lb higher.

He took seventh in the contest and is looking for his first score since landing the NH Chase at Cheltenham in 2019.

But that effort here twelve months ago at least did see him handle the fences well.

Le Brueil took a fourth place finish on his repaprance run this season which was at Kelso. He looked like he needed that.

Walk In The Mill
5/1

William Hill

Can Walk In The Mill land the Becher Handicap Chase again?

WALK IN THE MILL could create history this year by becoming the first horse to win this race three times.

He has had a reappearance run, which saw him take seventh place at Ascot over a 3m trip in October.

That’s nothing to be worried about, he has generally needed a first run of the season before kicking into gear.

Walk In The Mill is a 5/1 quote* (betting odds correct as of 16:28 GMT on Friday, December 24th from William Hill).

Walk In the Mill gets the cheek pieces refitted and and he has been dropped 1lb in the ratings following his reappearance.

He should bring another bold run to the table as he loves the Aintree fences. Will he seal the hattrick?

Kimberlite Candy could get in the frame

There should be a good run to come from KIMBERLITE CANDY after having put together some decent form last season.

A year ago he was the runner up in the Becher having delivered a superb run and a wonderful jumping performance.

He franked that form further by going out and winning the Classic Chase at Warick after that. He got that score by 10l as well over the 3m 5f trip.

So Kimberlite Candy does have this in him but he will be returning after 11 months away.

But he is not to be dismissed as an 11/2 option in horse racing betting* (betting odds correct as of 16:28 GMT on Friday, December 24th from William Hill).

Yala Enki will positioned for Paul Nicholls

YALA ENKI opened the season with a nice second place finish in a Group 3 handicap chase at Cheltenham over a 3m 3f trip.

That was just last month so he will be coming into this sharp. This will be the first time that he has taken on these unique fences at Aintree, so that is a question mark.

But following a good win at Taunton in January and then that smart effort at Cheltenham on reappearance, Yala Enki is one to keep an eye on at 9/1* (betting odds correct as of 16:28 GMT on Friday, December 24th from William Hill).

Can Ramses De Teillee improve at Aintree

An interesting one in the field is RAMSES DE TEILLEE who had a really poor showing at last year’s Grand National.

That has to be taken into consideration.

Three weeks ago he did get the better of YALA ENKI at Cheltenham and looked pretty sharp on what was his second run of the new term.

He has picked up 4 wins in 13 chases so he can’t be dismissed. Will Ramses De Teillee handle the Aintree fences better than last time?

If so, Ramses De Teillee is a player from 7/1* (betting odds correct as of 16:28 GMT on Friday, December 24th from William Hill).

Others to note

MINELLACELEBRATION is seeking a hattrick.

He is just thriving at the moment having narrowly landed the Summer Cup at Uttoxeter and then in a Veteran’s run here at Aintree in October.

This is probably too big of an ask for him, put warrants place claim considerations.

SMOOTH STEPPER is another one to watch for. Coming back up on trip will help him out here after having put in a reappearance at Sandown over 3m last month.

There was a fifth place finish from him in that one. It was his win in February in the Grand National Trial at Haydock that needs consideration.

COO STAR SIVOLA is back and a recent reappearance after a long time away saw him take fifth place in chasing action at Bangor-on-Dee last month over a 3m trip.

He has fallen a long way down the ratings and should be at a point where the former Ultima winner can do something.

Predictions & Tips for Becher Handicap Chase Racing Odds

What a great race this is and there are plenty of claims around to dig through for horse racing betting.

We have to think that WALK IN THE MILL is going to be there or thereabouts again from 5/1* (betting odds correct as of 16:28 GMT on Friday, December 24th from William Hill).

He may be looking forward to coming back next April for the National itself, but given that he just thrives over these fences, he has to be looked at.

We think that big 20/1 e/w odds on SMOOTH STEPPER are worth looking at as well, because he will be fresher for his reappearance run.

That National Trial win in February was something good that he could bring to the table here.

We would also be tempted with RAMSES DE TEILLEE here because of the experience of having gone around here in the Grand National last year.

He didn’t impress there in that one but it could prove to be some value regardless as he has a great strike rate in chasing.
