Race 3 for Saturday’s card at Ascot is the Coventry Stakes. This steps up in class as it is a Group 2 Class 1 effort which is open to only 2-year-olds.
It will be a 6f trip that the juveniles will be taking on. The conditions have edged towards soft which could be a big variable.
There are 16 declared for the contest. Last year’s winner was Arizona from an SP of 15/8. Just one of the last six winners have been at a price longer that 10/1.

Admiral Nelson to lead from the front?
There was a cracking debut from ADMIRAL NELSON. He buried the opposition in that Curragh trip. He just travelled so well and had a wonderfully quickening step to produce the good for trainer A P O’Brien.

QAADAR
Another who made a stunning debut was QAADER. He looked in superb shape as he landed a fourth length victory at Newbury a few weeks ago. If he finds more improvement coming back into action he has a big chance of pushing the equally impressive Admiral Nelson close.

CREATIVE FORCE
There was a comfortable win for CREATIVE FORCE and he just adds to the fascinating nature of this race. Trained by Charlie Appleby, Creative Force claimed his debut victory over Imperial Force by a length and a quarter.
Faces tough opposition here but looks to be a contender towards the head of the market at 13/2* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 06:25 GMT on Friday, 19th June 2020).
LAUDED
There was a good racetrack debut from LAUDED as well. It was a really professional showing from the juvenile which offered so much more to come. His victory came at Haydock earlier this month and will have solid claims here.
Looks to be a very well balanced horse and is a 17/2 option to keep on side* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 06:25 GMT on Friday, 19th June 2020).
ARMY OF INDIA
ARMY OF INDIA also scored on his racetrack debut as he made a winning start at Kempton. He bolted out of the start on a 6F trip and had enough to pull clear when he was challenged later in the race. It was Science that he beat by a short head in that one. Needs more put the place claims could be there.
Other Contenders
There are so many interesting prospects in this race. There is CHORTIZO who is going to take on a lot after scoring a 14/1 success at Wolverhampton on his debut, securing the win by a neck.
DARK LION was fourth behind Creative Force when he made his debut at Newmarket. He didn’t run a great race really as he sat back too long and had too much to do at the end. A better plan of attack and he could feature.
Also looking like he can’t totally be ruled out is EXISTANT who had a good pedigree. He was third in a field of eleven at Newmarket eariler this month on a 6f trip. It was a good run, with the promise of more after the experience.
Predictions & Tips
This race could be a real highlight as this is stacked with superb juveniles. At the head of the market, we have to stick with ADMIRAL NELSON who looked sharp and mature beyond his years in securing a win on his debut.
There shouldn’t be much to choose between him and QAADER however, who looked to have stacks left in his engine after winning his racetrack debut. For us, it’s a toss-up between those two really.
The others that we would lean towards to make some kind of challenge to them would be CREATIVE FORCE and LAUDED with some each way interest going towards ARMY OF INDIA.
