Al Dancer the 11/2 favourite for Cheltenham Gold Cup Handicap Hurdle

There has been some improved form from AL DANCER this season.

He has had the two runs, scoring on his reappearance at Newcastle on a 21f trip in a field of four.

Al Dancer had gotten the better of Master Tommytucker by almost three lengths in that intermediate chase.

He followed that up with a run here at Cheltenham in mid-November when he took third place in the Paddy Power Gold Cup Handicap Chase (Grade 3).

Al Dancer lost nothing in that excellent place finish and he stays at the same mark for his Cheltenham return.

He lost that Gold Cup Handicap Chase to Coole Cody, but Al Dancer is now 6lb better off than his rival for this clash and therefore should have a good chance of turning the tables.

Cepage a threat to the favourite

Eight year old CEPAGE looks to be a big threat in this Cheltenham field. He will be making his reappearance run, but has proven form when coming back fresh.

He is one of the best jumpers that is going to be lining up in this fixture.

Cepage was in this last year and 12 months on for Venetia Williams, he is 1lb lower than his 5th place in the 2019 renewal.

With Williams hitting a bit of form at the moment Cepage warrants respect.

He is a previous course and distance winner and the last run he had was a 7th place finish in the Ultima here at the venue. Definitely a player.

Master Tommytucker looks for the hattrick

There has been some big form from MASTER TOMMYTUCKER this season who is sitting on a hattrick.

For a 9 year old he is pretty low mileage and he had looked fresh and sharp for Paul Nicholls this term.

He has banked wins at Haydock and Huntingdon in two of his three efforts for this campaign.

He is coming back into handicapping now which may take a little extra effort from him. He’s top weight so will have to deal with that.

He clearly has the stamina to get himself in the mix, the question mark will be over his jumping ability in a field of classy performers.

Master Tommytucker is a 17/2 option* (odds recorded at 18:28 GMT at Coral on 12/11/20).

Can Coole Cody impress once again at Cheltenham?

It has been a cracking season from Evan Williams’ COOLE CODY who has taken two wins in four efforts this season.

The other runs both yielded runners-up place finishers for him. He has been improving very quickly over the fences and that was proven on his last run.

He took the Paddy Power Gold Cup here recently thanks to a really brave run. There is a 6lb rise for him, which could knock him back a little bit.

However, there is no reason why he can’t bring some place claims to the table with another bold effort.

Coole Cody is a 9/1 option in horse racing tips* (odds recorded at 18:28 GMT at Coral on 12/11/20).

Good Boy Bobby can impress on the move to handicapping

So far over the fences GOOD BOY BOBBY has been making some very nice progress for connections.

He is a very useful hurdler and has taken well to the bigger stuff. Good Boy Bobby scored a good win at Bangor on his reappearance run this season.

He couldn’t quite follow up as he found only Master Tommytucker too good for him on a run at Haydock as a follow up.

But he made a good impression nonetheless and we feel that he has enough about him to get on the shortlist for this handicap appearance from 12/1* (odds recorded at 18:28 GMT at Coral on 12/11/20).

Others to note

SAINT SONNET could be worth revisiting. He was a faller on his return to action this season as mistakes crept into his game late on in the Paddy Power Gold Cup.

The potential is there for better as shown in his 7th place in the Marsh Chase at the end of last season.

SOUTHFIELD STONE has shown form this season. He’s a useful chaser and nailed a 20f reappearance win here at Cheltenham.

Then back here last month he produced another credible run to take a second place finish.

The handicapping is a little issue, but he’s worth keeping an eye on.

ROMAIN DE SENAM could be a good long-priced option to watch in the market.

Just last month he went on a 2m trip at Aintree in a handicapping effort and took fourth place.

He gets the tongue strap on and moves back up in trip, which makes him an interesting player.

WINDSOR AVENUE scored a couple of very good chase wins last season.

On his reappearance and first run since wind surgery, he banked a 2nd at Carlisle and looked nice and shape.

We think that puts him well in the picture for his handicap debut. Definitely a contender from 7/1* (odds recorded at 18:28 GMT at Coral on 12/11/20).

Predictions & Tips for Caspian Caviar Gold Cup Handicap Chase Racing Odds

This is a great field and we are going to roll with CEPAGE as our main selection for horse racing betting at 15/2* (odds recorded at 18:28 GMT at Coral on 12/11/20).

He is familiar with the race having been in the frame in the last two editions of this very fixture.

So that gives him some obvious claims. With a course and distance win too last season, he is a great fit.

AL DANCER should be an obvious one to put on the shortlist. With a decent effort in the Paddy Power Gold Cup and staying at the same mark, that puts him in the frame without question.

We expect him to be scrapping there at the finish.

We don’t like jumping form too much of Master Tommytucker, so our final selection for the sholits is the 12/1 each way shot GOOD BOY BOBBY.

He does have to find more on his handicap bow, but he has looked in fine shape for Nigel Twiston-Davies so far this season.
