13:55 Arkle Betting Odds & Tips: Cheltenham 2021 – 16th March 2021

Horse Racing Betting

The second race of Tuesday for Cheltenham 2021 we get to look at the Arkle betting odds.

This is a Grade 1 feature race over a 2m trip for the runners. There are just the six declared for this year’s renewal.

Heading up the Arkle betting 2021 is SHISHKIN who was last year’s Supreme Novices’ winner.

Last year’s winner of the Arkle was 6 year old PUT THE KETTLE on from a big 16/1 SP (Aidan Coleman/H De Bromhead).

Arkle Betting Odds

Shiskkin 4/9
Allmankind 5/1
Captain Guinness 13/2
Franco De Port 10/1
Eldorado Allen 50/1
Numitor 250/1

Shishkin dominates Arkle betting odds

Now at a current quote of 4/9 odds-on the backing for SHISHKIN in Arkle Betting just keeps getting stronger and stronger* (betting odds recorded at 20:35 GMT on March 15th, 2021 at Betfred).

In all fairness he is going to take some stopping more likely than not.

Shishkin won the Supreme Novices last season at the Cheltenham Festival. He has come on leaps and bounds since then for trainer Nicky Henderson.

Shaishkin is the best novice chaser around at the moment and has won all three efforts this term.

The most recent of this season’s wins for Shishkhin was in a Grade 2 effort at Doncaster in January. He scored that by 9 lengths over Eldorado Allen, who he opposes again on Tuesday.

That was his second Grade 2 win.

Shishkin now has the run of the mill here with the withdrawal of ENERGUMENE who misses what would have been a Festival highlight clash, because of injury.

Allmankind the pick of the rest in Arkle betting?

ALLMANKIND has picked up three wins from three over the fences. So he should rightly be looked at for place claims in Arkle betting.

So Allmankind has really developed well as a chaser after being one of the elite juvenile hurdlers last season. But will he get the run right?

The David Skelton-trained five year old likes to get to the front and he goes hard.

That may leave concerns that he will be out of gas by the time that he gets to the foot of the hill ahead of the finish.

But he has shown well thi sseson. He’s won the Henry VIII at Sandown and the Kingmaker at Warwick on his last two starts.

There’s no denying how well that he has taken to the fences and is a 5/1 quote* (betting odds recorded at 20:35 GMT on March 15th, 2021 at Betfred)

Can Captain Guinness get in the frame?

Henry de Bromhead’s CAPTAIN GUINNESS was a faller on his latest effort which was at Leopardstown just over a month ago.

He readily developed as a quality hurdler last season. That same form has been moved over to the fences as well.

Captain Guinness picked up a win at Punchestown in December under Rachel Blackmore in a beginners chase.

He was then soundly beaten by Energumene at Naas, who would have been right up there in a dogfight with Shishkin had injury not struck.

So despite his rapid progress Captain Guinness does have a little bit to find. But a runner up finish in this contest is well within his reach.

Captain Guinness is a 13/2 quote in Arkle betting odds* (betting odds recorded at 20:35 GMT on March 15th, 2021 at Betfred).

Franco de Port in the mix for a second-place finish?

Assuming that Shishkin just strolls away with this race as he has the ability to do, it really is just the second place finish we are sizing up for Arkle betting odds.

FRANCO DE PORT is a 10/1 punt in the outright market and he is not without a chance in this one either.

He opened the season in fine fashion winning his first two goes over the fences. The second of those winning efforts was in a Grade 1 fixture at Leopardstown.

He then found Energumene far too good for him back at Leopardstown last month in a Grade 1 chase where he was heavily beaten by 10 lengths.

That suggests that a win is well out of the question in the Arkle unless his game is raised dramatically.

But that 10/1 quote turned to e/w does have some very good appeal for this Willie Mullins runner* (betting odds recorded at 20:35 GMT on March 15th, 2021 at Betfred).

Eldorado Allen with a lot to find

Trainer Colin Tizzard sends ELDORADO ALLEN out with the tongue tie on for the very first time.

There were some very nice positives from him at the start of the season with back to back victories over the fences at Newton Abbot and here at Cheltenham.

But then he started to get a bit exposed as he was nowhere near Allmankind at Sandown in the Henry VIII.

Then Eldorado Allen was up against Shishkin at Doncaster in January and just had no answer to that brilliant opponent.

So more likely than not he will be founding a little bit and is a big 50/1 outsider* (betting odds recorded at 20:35 GMT on March 15th, 2021 at Betfred).

Numitor out of his depth in Arkle challenge?

This is a serious upgrade in grade for NUMITOR who is the massive 250/1 rank outsider in Arkle betting odds* (betting odds recorded at 20:35 GMT on March 15th, 2021 at Betfred).

He is built to be a decent chaser and the seven year old made the switch to this sphere over the winter.

Numitor duly scored a couple of 2m handicaps at Wincanton and Ffos Las.

He was last seen in a slightly shorter chase last month at Sandown and was beaten by 18 lengths in the fixture having been the 7/4 FAV at the start.

Predictions & Tips for Arkle Betting Odds

Well fans have cruelly been denied the chance to see Shiskin v Energumene in what would have been a brilliant Arkle spectacle.

With the letter not attending then the road is clear for a SHISHKIN victory here as the 4/9 odds-on favourite* (betting odds recorded at 20:35 GMT on March 15th, 2021 at Betfred).

He may be as close to being the biggest Cheltenham banker of the entire Festival as you will get.

After winning the Supreme Novices last season, Shiskin is set for more Cheltenham success.

As for the fight for the runner up spot, our nod goes towards FRANCO DE PORT as a 10/1 e/w pick* (betting odds recorded at 20:35 GMT on March 15th, 2021 at Betfred).

The novice chase winner is as good as anyone else in this field and may well be worth a look, especially with the shorter-priced ALLMANKIND potentially doing too much too soon early on.
