Dream Of Dreams 9/4 FAV for British Champions Sprint Stakes

There is a good commanding lead at the head of the market for DREAM OF DREAMS at 9/4* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 20:28 GMT on Friday, October 16th 2020).

Given that he is sitting on a hat-trick, his form is peaking at the right time.

He did have a crack at this race last year but that didn’t end well for him as he really let down his backers.

But in his last two runs this season, he has taken the Hungerford Stakes and then the Sprint Cup at Haydock.

Given the form that has produced in those two, the six-year-old, who has Oisin Murphy in the saddle, he has to pique interest.

The deterrents will be two previous poor efforts in this very race.

OXTED
6/1

Ladbrokes

Oxted the one to get behind?

OXTED has the quality to make a big splash in this fixture as well. He closed out the last campaign with a win and since his return, has taken things skyward.

Oxted has won his two trips this year, kicking off with the Abernant Stakes before following up with the July Cup.

This will be his first run since a wind operation as well. He is on a big upward curve at the moment. The one question mark over his chances here would be the softer ground.

That could hold him back a little bit. But given the way that he won the July Cup, he is a value pick at 6/1* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 20:28 GMT on Friday, October 16th 2020).

Starman to shine at Ascot?

The unexpected STARMAN will probably take a fair bit of backing in the British Champions Sprint Stakes. He is unbeaten in his three starts so far.

The most recent one of those was at York and it was a cracker too. He got the better of Dakota Gold in that run.

There still has to be a lot more to come from him, but it’s already been a stellar rise. He looks a serious Group 1 player after his Listed success at York.

The places can’t be an unrealistic goal from him in this sprint. He comes in as a current 8/1 option* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 20:28 GMT on Friday, October 16th 2020).

One Master to earn Ascot success?

There has been excellent recent form from ONE MASTER as well, adding to this super-competitive field. She took part in last year’s British Champions Sprint Stakes and was beaten by a length.

A recent score at the Oak Tree Stakes at Goodwood put her in good stead. She then went back to happy hunting-grounds to win the Group 1 Prix de la Foret for the third time.

That was the second win in her last four races, claiming runners-up spots in the other two.

One Master is the 5/1 second-favourite* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 20:28 GMT on Friday, October 16th 2020).

Happy Power in a very good mood

One runner in his field who is certainly in good heart at the moment is HAPPY POWER. He completed a hattrick recently by taking the Challenge Stakes at Newmarket.

He has looked better and better recently and warrants some respect with regards to place claims.

His win in the Challenge Stakes was on soft ground, so that’s another string to his bow.

Given that he is just absolutely thriving at the moment, he warrants a look as an each option from 16/1* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 20:28 GMT on Friday, October 16th 2020).

Others to note

GLEN SHIEL is another of the contenders for this race. It has been an excellent year for him, having taken four wins. The biggest of those was the Group 3 Phoenix Stakes.

On his first crack at the Group 1 company, he performed excellently at Haydock. He found only Dream Of Dreams too good in that one.

SONAIYLA has handled herself in Group 1 company this year. She opened her campaign with back to back successes and her follows up have been equally convincing.

The last trip she had was at a 5f distance in a Group 1 effort where she finished third.

THE TIN MAN has not had the most consistent of campaigns. But he showed a nice bit of form to take second place at York on Saturday.

He didn’t get a clear run in that fixture either. The Tin Man won the British Champions Sprint stakes in 2016.

Predictions & Tips for British Champion Sprint Stakes Racing Odds

This is a cracking, wide-open field. It is not the easiest one to pull from either. But our top selection for the shortlist is OXTED at 6/1* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 20:28 GMT on Friday, October 16th 2020).

Yes, this will be his first time on soft ground, but just his form and heart can’t be ignored at the moment.

Coming in on the back of his July Cup win, his form tops that of anyone else coming into this sprint action.

The unexposed STARMAN pulls in plenty of appeal as he is on a big upward trajectory and looks to be super exciting. It was an excellent field that he beat last month in York.

DREAM OF DREAMS has yet to really live up to the potential in two previous attempts in his race.

But here he is again, in good form and is good enough, if he runs his race to get himself well into the frame.
