13:55 Rous Stakes Ascot Racing Odds & Tips: Betway offer 4/1 on Dakota Gold – 3rd October 2020

Maid In India can score at Ascot on her drop in grade

Horse Racing Betting

The big race from Ascot on Saturday is the Rous Stakes at 13:55 and this is a Listed fixture over a short 5f trip.

There is a field of 14 declared for the contest and at the head of that field is DAKOTA GOLD at 4/1* (betting odds taken from Betway at 23:00 GMT on Friday, 2nd October 2020).

It is Dakota Gold who will be back for a defence after scoring from a 15/8 SP in last year’s renewal (Connor Beasley / M Dods).

Will he be able to pull off the double in the fixture?

Dakota Gold the 4/1 FAV for Rous Stakes Ascot Odds

DAKOTA GOLD, who likes to control things from the front in races, is returning to try and defend his crown in this fixture.

He is a 4/1 option to get the job done again* (betting odds taken from Betway at 23:00 GMT on Friday, 2nd October 2020).

His win in this race last year was one of five scores that he took for the calendar year. He was last seen at Doncaster last month in a listed race.

He wasn’t at his best in that one, taking third place behind Tarboost by one and a half lengths in the recent Scarborough Stakes.

Still, after such a progressive year last year and with a 5f score at Beverley just back at the end of August followed by a second place at York in a stiffer contest following that, Dakota Gold has to be respected once again.

MAID IN INDIA
5/1

Tis Marvellous poses a big threat to the favourite

One of the leading contenders in the Rous Stakes on Saturday should be TIS MARVELLOUS who is in great form currently.

He has a good track record at Ascot and will pose a threat back at the track. He rediscovered his winning touch at Leicester in September.

Then he followed up with a second place finish in a Group 3 effort at Newbury on his last run. Tis Marvellous is easily one for the shortlist in this contest.

He has scored twice over course and distance before in his career. He’s a great fit from a 6/1 quote* (betting odds taken from Betway at 23:00 GMT on Friday, 2nd October 2020).

Aljady carrying some big form

There is no question mark over the current form of ALJADY who has scored in three of his last four runs. He is sitting on a hattrick as he comes into the picture for the Rous Stakes on Saturday.

Aljady was last in against in a conditions run at Beverley 11 days ago over a 5f trip.

He has developed into a very good sprinter and with his new yard has delivered four wins in six runs.

He is not to be taken lightly at all for this one and he is one to keep on side at 15/2* (betting odds taken from Betway at 23:00 GMT on Friday, 2nd October 2020).

Maid In India made for success?

There is a drop in grade for MAID IN INDIA which should make her a player as well in this contest. She is a good smart mark who knows how to scrap it out.

He was recently out at the Curragh contesting the Flying Five three weeks ago and she took four there. The pace was a little hot for her there at the finish, but down in grade, she’s a player as well.

She is being well respected in the market for a current price of 5/1, leaving her standing as the current second favourite in the fixture* (betting odds taken from Betway at 23:00 GMT on Friday, 2nd October 2020).

Tarboosh worth a look following Scarborough Stakes

TARBOOSH accounted for a few of these that he re-opposes on the weekend at the Scarborough Stakes at Doncaster.

That was on his last appearance and it confirmed that his run at the Beverley Bullet, which was well below par, wasn’t his true form.

There was a touch of fortune about his run at Doncaster, with the race shaping up in his favour, but he still may be worth keeping a market-eye on as he is currently at 10/1* (betting odds taken from Betway at 23:00 GMT on Friday, 2nd October 2020).

Others to note

MOSS GILL is a good sprinter, but he was short of his best, a long way actually when he was seen in a listed race at Doncaster last month.

He huffed and puffed his way to a sixth place finish there. He hasn’t quite got it going this season.

GLAMOROUS ANNAis a bit hit and miss with her temperament, but she did score back to back wins in July at Windsor and Goodwood.

She was also in very good heart when she took a fourth place finish at Newbury in a Group 3 contest last time out.

Predictions & Tips for Rous Stakes Ascot Racing Odds

This is a great fixture and the returning champion DAKOTA GOLD has to warrant some decent respect for this contest.

He was just a little disappointing though in a listed effort at Doncaster on his last run, which is going to send our main interest elsewhere.

TIS MARVELLOUS should be in the frame and we would expect him to be there or thereabouts.

But it is MAID IN INDIA who gets the nod from us at 5/1* (betting odds taken from Betway at 23:00 GMT on Friday, 2nd October 2020).

The drop in grade is going to make her a major player here and knocked on the door on her last run, taking fourth in the Flying Five Stakes at the Curragh.
