Exciting Ibleo can make his presence felt at Ascot on Saturday

Horse Racing Betting

This is the first of the day’s big races from Ascot on Saturday. It’s a fantastic card and this is one of the highlights.

This is a Listed Handicap Chase which is over a 2m 1/2f trip at the famous course. This fixture is open to 4 year olds and above.

There are 8 runners declared for the contest and at the head of the market CAPELAND is a very narrow favourite.

Last year’s winner was Diego Du Charmil at a 13/2 SP (Lorcan Williams / P F Nicholls).

Interestingly the last two winners of this race have both been at 11-12 weight and were 13/2 SP victors as well.

Capeland 3/1 FAV in tote.co.uk Ascot Handicap Chase odds

Can CAPELAND make a winning Ascot return on Saturday?

He is currently a narrow 3/1 market leader for this Listed fixture from Saturday’s card* (betting odds taken from Betway on Friday, 30th October 2020 at 03:09 GMT).

He delivered a win in the Hurst Park Handicap Chase at Ascot on a 17f trip last winter.

That was a bright spark in four trips at the track there at the end of last season. He is also a course and distance winner.

Capeland was last seen in March this year at the Cheltenham Festival. But it was another disappointing run from him as he was 14th of 18 in the Challenge Cup Handicap Chase (Grade 3).

Aside from that score at Ascot last November, he has mostly been running below form. It will be interesting to see what he does now.

IBLEO

Amoola Gold to make his presence felt?

The presence of AMOOLA GOLD in this race is going to be one worth keeping an eye on.

He had a recent successful seasonal reappearance which will appease a lot of putners looking at him. The 7 year old got his success at Wetherby.

That was earlier this month as they claimed the victory by a length over Havana Hermano.

The extra bit of trip in this one won’t bother him as he was successful at Hereford in November 2018 at this distance.

Given that he’s had the chance to get some competitive air in his lungs recently, Amoola Gold should make his presence felt at 6/1* (betting odds taken from Betway on Friday, 30th October 2020 at 03:09 GMT).

Flaminger to be respected on Ascot trip

Five year old FLAMINGER is one to watch in the field. He has a weight advantage over some of the other main contenders in this one.

He has won three of his six chases as he really stepped forward with some big form last season.

Last December he took back to back wins at Plumpton and Fontwell to really make his presence felt.

Also in favour of Flaminger is him having had a recent reappearance run. He was in action back at Fontwell at the beginning of the month.

It was a score in the 5-runner handicap chase that he got there, easing home by a length of 13/8F.

He has the potential from longer 5/1 odds to win this* (betting odds taken from Betway on Friday, 30th October 2020 at 03:09 GMT).

Ibleo to continue powerful chasing form?

Another to watch in this super-competitive fixture is IBLEO. Trained by Vanessa Williams, Ibleo has won two of his three chase efforts so far.

On his handicap chase bow in late January this year, he scored by four lengths over Jaytrack Parkhomes.

Following that he won by a wide margin at Huntington at this distance in late February.

Then Ibleo just missed out on a cracking hat trick when he found only Canelo too good on the day back at Huntingdon.

That was however, up at a 20f trip. Given his successes before that, he will likely appreciate the drop in distance

With that in mind he looks as if he is going to play a huge part in how this race unfolds.

Ibleo is 10/3 in horse racing betting for Saturday* (betting odds taken from Betway on Friday, 30th October 2020 at 03:09 GMT).

Can Little Light defy the odds?

LITTLE LIGHT comes into this contest as 7/1 option in horse racing betting* (betting odds taken from Betway on Friday, 30th October 2020 at 03:09 GMT).

She has won two of her six previous chase efforts. The most recent one of those was back in the middle of March at Southwell as the 6/4 FAV.

Either side of that however, including on her seasonal reappearance in early October, she had found Flaminger too good for her on the day.

The most recent clash that the two of them had was at Fontwell handicap chase, finishing third of five there.

That run will have helped and the mare did put together some very tidy form last winter. But this is a really a tough jump in grade and in which to try and turn the tables.

The rest of the runners

MOLINEAUX returns for his seasonal repparance and probably has a lot to find in this one. He has generally needed a few runs to really get himself up to speed for the season.

Molineaux did win at Wincanton in January and signed off with a runner up spot back there at the end of February. We don’t see Molineaux entering the calculations.

CAID DU LIN has yet to really put a commanding stamp in handicap chasing. He was last seen at Sandown in early February unseating his jockey.

Caid Du Lin claimed a win in December at Ludlow over two miles, but looks short of ability for this contest.

AZZURI has not collected a win since a score at Ayr in April last year. That’s ten trips without success. He has been busy already this season in handicap chase action.

But he hasn’t particularly looked like any kind of threat.

Predictions & Tips for tote.co.uk Ascot Handicap Chase Racing Odds

There are some good strong claims from different angles in horse racing betting here. We do think that favourite CAPELAND is worth taking on in this one. It looks like he has something to prove and we’re not sure he can do it.

IBLEO has to be the pick for us as he comes back down in trip. He checks a lot of boxes from a 10/3 quote* (betting odds taken from Betway on Friday, 30th October 2020 at 03:09 GMT).

We are a little torn for the other selection in this race. FLAMINGER and AMOOLA GOLD both look a threat. That’s because they have both had winning reappearances for the season.

It is just the slightly more progressive and consistent form that the former has produced that would swing us towards him out of that pair. All in all, this looks as if it is going to be a fascinating fixture.
