Epatante the 4/5 favourite for Fighting Fifth Hurdle

There was big form from EPATANTE last season and she has now won five of six over the hurdles for Nicky Henderson.

The last time that she was out in action was at the Champion Hurdle when she scored by a 3l margin.

Epatante is the current 4/5 favourite and shaping up as the one to beat in Fighting Fifth Hurdle betting 2020* (betting odds taken from Betfair at 22:12 GMT on Friday, 27th November 2020).

There is no way that she has fully developed just yet so there is likely more brilliance to come from her.

We think that she is going to be hard to knock over at Newcastle on Saturday.

Sceau Royal the big challenge to the favourite?

The presence of SCEAU ROYAL should be felt in this contest. He has won his two outings this season.

He opened the campaign with a victory at the Welsh Championship Hurdle and followed it up in the Elite Hurdle as well.

There was a very strong finish from him at Wincanton on his latest. Sceau Royal bolted up there to win by a wide 8l margin up at Grade 2.

He has plenty of experience on his side and looks to be going well on his return to the hurdles.

But this is a bit stronger of a challenge that he has had back in this sphere.

Sceau Royal is at 10/3 in the market* (betting odds taken from Betfair at 22:12 GMT on Friday, 27th November 2020).

Can Cornerstone Lad produce a title defence?

There was a surprise win for CORNERSTONE LAD in last year’s renewal of the Fighting Fifth.

He pulled off the shock victory over Buveur d’Air to land at the time, what was a double.

He didn’t secure a hat trick though to sign off last season with.

Cornerstone Lad had a trip to the flat three weeks ago to get some air in his lungs. So he should be nice and sharp on Saturday.

Even though last year’s score was a big surprise, coming back he shouldn’t underestimated despite being out at 22/1 in the horse racing betting* (betting odds taken from Betfair at 22:12 GMT on Friday, 27th November 2020).

Silver Streak to push on?

SILVER STREAK was in last year’s renewal of this race, but left things too late to make a serious challenge.

He was third in last year’s Fighting Fifth Hurdle and he followed that up by finding only Epatante too good in the Christmas Hurdle a month later.

He was beaten by the latter again when they met in this year’s Champion Hurdle (Grade1).

Silver Streak returned to action at Kempton in the middle of last month and scored a nice win in a Listed hurdle contest ahead of Verdana Blue.

Claims are there from 6/1* (betting odds taken from Betfair at 22:12 GMT on Friday, 27th November 2020).

Ribble Valley with some solid claims

A reappearance victory from RIBBLE VALLEY puts him on the radar in this one.

That came at Carlisle in an intermediate trip over the hurdles. He is coming up to Grade 1 for the first time.

That reappearance run this season came on Ribble Valley’s first trip since wind surgery as well. It gave him his third win in his last four trips.

Ribble Valley was really showing progressive form over the hurdles last season, winning two of his three trips.

He is unexposed then in this kind of company, but he does bring something very interesting to table as a 8/1 contender* (betting odds taken from Betfair at 22:12 GMT on Friday, 27th November 2020).

The Rest Of the Runners

VOIZ DE REVE opened the season a long way back down a field at Aintree. That was a handicap hurdle effort that he took on last month.

This is an even tougher challenge for him and gets the cheek pieces on for the first time.

NOT SO SLEEPY was in form at this time of the year in 2019. He scored a couple of very nice 2m Ascot trips in that period.

Not So Sleepy is coming back into hurdles action after taking a fourth place at the Cesarewitch at Newport on the flat.

Predictions & Tips for Fighting Fifth Racing Odds

We are having a hard time getting past EPANTANTE in this one even at 4/5 * (betting odds taken from Betfair at 22:12 GMT on Friday, 27th November 2020).

If she even remotely picks up where she left off in the previous campaign, she is going to be well in the mix.

She looks to be the one who sets the standard for this intriguing contest.

SCEAU ROYAL should be there or thereabouts as well. He is in tremendous heart at the moment for Alan King.

With the Welsh Champion and Elite Hurdle under his belt already this season, big form is there.

From the market, Sceau Royal is the value 10/3 selection.* (betting odds taken from Betfair at 22:12 GMT on Friday, 27th November 2020).

There are so many other good claims here from SILVER STREAK to CORNERSTONE LAD.

But the final selection for the shortlist is going to be RIBBLE VALLEY who is fascinating on his first Grade 1 effort. He scored easily on his return suggesting there’s more.
