Moss Gill the 11/4 FAV for the Scarbrough Stakes

Four-year-old MOSS GILL is the outright favourite for Wednesday’s Scarbrough Stakes at Doncaster.

He is narrowly sitting at the head of the market at 11/4* (betting odds taken from Betway at 22:16 GMT on Tuesday, 8th September 2020).

It was a great 2019 by him and he has taken things further with his form this year as well, scoring in two of his four trips since coming back to action.

The most recent of those wins was in his penultimate race, the City Walls at York.

Then he went to the Nunthorpe at the same course and distance and was third behind Battaash.

But he was by no means disgraced in a brilliant run in that Group 1 effort. So he comes down a grade for this one and he has to be a top player.

Can Dakota Gold get the top prize?

There should be a very serious threat launched by DAKOTA GOLD in this fixture and he is the 4/1 second-favourite* (betting odds taken from Betway at 22:16 GMT on Tuesday, 8th September 2020).

He was only just in action on Sunday when he claimed a second-place finish at York, so this is a quick turnaround for him.

But his connections must fancy it. He has, in general, looked back to his best in his last couple of runs.

He was 5 times during 2019 did Dakota Gold but had a slow start to things year.

But with a recent win in the Beverley Bullet sprint, he is likely to be pushing hard for a place at least on Wednesday.

Will Makanah step it up again

Also in the Beverly Bullet along with Dakota Gold recently, was MAKANAH. But the gelding struggled a bit below form in that sprint.

So it will be interesting to see if he can bounce back as an 8/1 each-way option* (betting odds taken from Betway at 22:16 GMT on Tuesday, 8th September 2020).

He scored on his reappearance this year at Newmarket in a handicap race and then followed up with a couple of good, solid runs.

He just wasn’t quite on his game for that last one, however. But on his day he could be capable of a surprise.

Acklam Express leads juvenile charge

ACKLAM EXPRESS is showing tremendous form as a 2-year-old. He has won his last three fixtures after having opened with a solid debut.

The hattrick completion happened at York three weeks ago when he just looked so game and ready to work.

Yes, he’s unexposed but it will be fascinating to see how he handles things up at this grade from an a 11/2 quote* (betting odds taken from Betway at 22:16 GMT on Tuesday, 8th September 2020).

Urban Beat to play the right tune?

URBAN BEAT gets the cheek pieces on for this challenge as he looks to complete his first success since Spring of 2019.

But he produced a very good run last time out, battling through some heavy conditions to take a second-place finish at Navan.

He will be making his debut on a British track and warrants some respect up there as an 11/4 option* (betting odds taken from Betway at 22:16 GMT on Tuesday, 8th September 2020).

The Rest of the Runners

ROCKET ACTION took second place in a Listed fixture at Deauville on his latest run. That was a significant step forward after struggling a bit on his first two runs following his reappearances. He was red-hot at the end of the last campaign.

TARBOOSH has been solid and consistent without really looking any kind of a threat. He doesn’t look to have the edge in sprint efforts at the moment. He was in the Beverley Bullet recently, behind some of these.

WISE WORDS makes a return after a year away. That having been said she was in great shape in what she did do in 2019, winning three of her last six trips. This will be a big ask up at this grade after such an absence.

COUNTRY CARNIVAL had a good debut and then followed up immediately with an impressive win at Beverley in a novice run. She hasn’t scored since and was well out of shape in a low finish at Newbury on her latest run.

Predictions & Tips for Scarbrough Stakes Racing Odds

There are some good claims in here, but the best that we can see is MOSS GILL who sets the standard.

After getting in the money at Group 1 in the Nunthorpe recently, he’s hard to take a pass on at the 11/4 quote* (betting odds taken from Betway at 22:16 GMT on Tuesday, 8th September 2020).

DAKOTA GOLD is more than capable of getting himself in the places in this one if he handles being turned out so quickly after Sunday’s effort.

Another that we like for this one is MAKANAH to come good again. He never got himself going in the Beverley Bullet but has shown better than that this season, so could make a run at the places.
