Simply The Betts to deliver another big Cheltenham success?

Horse Racing Betting

Another big feature of Saturday’s racing at Prestbury Park on Saturday is the Cheltenham Gold Cup Handicap Chase.

This is race 4 of the day’s card and is a 2m 4f trip for those involved.

The Cheltenham Gold Cup Handicap Chase is a Grade 3 fixture and it is open to 4 year olds plus.

There is a big purse on offer of over £74k. We are looking at a big field of 17 declared runners for the horse racing betting action on this one.

Heading up the market, but only narrowly on Friday night, was SIMPLY THE BETTS.

Last year’s winner of this race was 8 year old HAPPY DIVA from a 14/1 SP (Richard Patrick / Kerry Lee).

Simply The Betts 5/1 FAV for Gold Cup Handicap Chase

The current 5/1 favourite is SIMPLY THE BETTS* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 23:30 GMT on Friday, 13th November 2020).

He was in stunning form last season, having five trips over the fences and getting beaten in just one of those.

In his last two starts he has won here at Cheltenham, scoring a very strong novice handicap and then in the Plate.

Putting all that together then Simply The Betts obviously has some seriously strong claims in this fixture.

There is probably going to be a lot more to come from him under handicapping this season.

Will he extend his unbeaten form over the Cheltenham fences?

SLATE HOUSE
10/1

Saint Sonnet likely to be a big player

We like the look of SAINT SONNET heading into his Cheltenham Gold Cup Handicap Chase on Saturday.

He is coming in at a current quote of 11/2* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 23:30 GMT on Friday, 13th November 2020).

Saint Sonnet is capable of even more as well after a seventh place finish in the Marsh (course and distance) at this year’s Cheltenham Festival. He has not been out since then.

However, Saint Sonnet is well worth a look here because he did win in Listed company over the hurdles in France.

He has also won a couple of chases between 2m 1f and 2m 4f in his career. Saint Sonnet looks as if he has a lot to offer over the fences this season.

Mister Fisher to enter calculations

MISTER FISHER was last seen in action here at Cheltenham. That was in the Marsh Novices’ Chase at the 2020 Cheltenham Festival.

It wasa fourth palace finish there that he took.

This will be the fifth attempt now over the fences. Now that he is coming in handicapping he has to be well respected.

Mister Fisher won his first trip over the bigger stuff last season.

Given his performance in the Grade 1 Marsh at the Festival, he checks a lot of boxes for Saturday.

He is expected to be well in the mix and goes as a 9/2 option in horse racing betting* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 23:30 GMT on Friday, 13th November 2020).

Can Siruh Du Lac’s jump get him there?

SIRUH DU LAC is usually a very solid jumper. He has now moved to a new yard and is with David Pipe.

Last season was pretty much a bust for Siruh Du Lac having only two appearances and failing to complete either one of those.

He was a faller in the Plate at the Cheltenham Festival earlier this year. But since his time away he has had wind surgery.

On his day, in top form, he is one of the top jumpers around. If he gets anywhere near the kind of form that he showed in 2018/19 then he could feature.

On his return. Siruh Du Lac is easily worth a look at 8/1* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 23:30 GMT on Friday, 13th November 2020).

Slate House to not be dismissed

Although backing him at the end of last season will have been costly to punters, SLATE HOUSE is still worth consideration here.

He is a previous course and distance winner and he was well in contention for winning this race last year.

But he took a tumble a couple of fences from home. But he got straight back up and won his following two races.

That included a Grade 1 trip at Kempton. Slate House then kind of went quiet at the end of the season, not making an impact in a couple of Cheltenham tips.

But Colin Tizzard should have him well primed for a big return and he retains a stack of ability for a 9/1 quote* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 23:30 GMT on Friday, 13th November 2020).

Others to note

AL DANCER posted a win on his recent appearance run. That was at Newton Abbot, benefitting from the extra trip up to 21f. He kept on well in that contest.

So it will be interesting to see if he can push forward in this sphere. Al Dancer wasn’t quite there against better chasers last year. Has he improved?

HAPPY DIVA had a good time in the previous campaign. She had a return to action at Wetherby when she took a fifth place finish.

That was a trip to get air in her lungs. At the back end of last season, she finished second to SIMPLY THE BETTS at the Plate at Cheltenham Festival. The mare warrants respect.

The last time that SPIRITOFTHEGAMES was seen was in the Plate at the Cheltenham Festival in March as well. He chased home SIMPLY THE BETTS there in sixth place.

But he is pretty handy on the New Course taking a couple of second place finishes in such fixtures last term.

Predictions & Tips for Cheltenham Gold Cup Handicap Chase Racing Odds

Another top fixture from Cheltenham on Saturday. For obvious reasons, we have to strongly consider this year’s Plate winner SIMPLY THE BETTS for a chance here.

The 5/1 odds on him to deliver another Cheltenham win is nice* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 23:30 GMT on Friday, 13th November 2020).

But we are interested in a couple of others as well. We think that there is a decent chance of SLATE HOUSE coming back with a bold show.

From a 10/1 quote he certainly has enough in his record to check some boxes off* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 23:30 GMT on Friday, 13th November 2020).

The other that we think needs a little bit of respect is HAPPY DIVA who will be all the better for a recent Wetherby reappearance.

If she rediscovers the form that took her to second place at the Plate in March, then she can enter calculations.
