Peter The Mayo Man is Uttoxeter Racing Odds favourite

On his last run at Southwell, PETER THE MAYO MAN took eight place in that contest on renewal.

He is looking for his first score since 2018, but that recent run at Southwell was after having been away from the track for 6 months.

He will be at top weight for this run, but he has proven in the past that he is a big contender.

But will punters have enough trust in him to get to the line first as the current 5/2 FAV* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 22:35 GMT on Wednesday, 15th July 2020)?

NEW AGENDA
7/1

William Hill

New Agenda

It is Richard Johnson who will be in the saddle for NEW AGENDA who is a 7/1 option* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 22:35 GMT on Wednesday, 15th July 2020) in this handicap hurdle.

The eight year old is 4lbs lighter than on his last win over the timbers. That’s just something to keep in mind ahead of this contest.

The 8 year old returned from an absence in the middle of June to take 5th place in a handicap at Newbury on the flat.

New Agenda was fourth on his last hurdle effort in January this year up at class 3. He’s not without claims.

Get Back Get Back

GET BACK GET BACK returned to action at Wolverhampton after a 20 day break at the start of June.

He was 7th of 11 in that contest, which was also his first effort after wind surgery.

He never quite got things going over hurdle attempts before, so needs a big response.

But in this kind of company from 4/1 odds he may be able to raise his game to get in the frame* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 22:35 GMT on Wednesday, 15th July 2020).

Esprit De Baileys

ESPRIT DE BAILEYS is a very interesting inclusion in this contest. He was last seen at Newmarket in a couple of flat efforts in June.

Esprit De Baileys is unexposed over the hurdles with just three runs under his belt, scoring once which was in a novice event.

He is 6/1 for this effort and should be stripping fit after those flat efforts* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 22:35 GMT on Wednesday, 15th July 2020).

Others to note

To be fair, this looks like a wide open contest. KING ALFONSO will be making his reappearance in this aver 267 days away.

He was in great form before his break and he was a three-time winner last season as well. Despite the eight month break, he should be respected.

PERCY was knocking the door of a win before heading into his break. He has been away for almost six months now.

But prior to that he had taken back to back runner-up spots. He is with a different yard now and may have claims if he starts strongly.

SWAFFHAM BUBECK won his last hurdle effort which was back in the middle of March. That was over 16f at Fakenham.

He has had three runs since returning from break, none of them successfully it has to be said, on the flat. Will he enjoy his return to the jumps?

Predictions & Tips for Uttoxeter Racing Odds

This is a tough field with it looking wide open. We are going to go with some who have had a bit of fitness under their belt thanks to recent flat runs.

NEW AGENDA therefore is the one that just gets the nod here. He has a class jockey on his back and down at what is surely a workable mark for him.

GET BACK GET BACK had a rumble on the flat as well and it will be interesting to see if he can raise his game going back to the jumps.

PETER THE MAYO MAN should feature as he’s down at a workable mark as well in this kind of company. His recent run at Southwell may have helped him get closer to improved form.
