Enbihaar 2/1 FAV for York Lonsdale Cup Stakes Odds

This is a very good looking race and heading up the market is ENBIHAAR at 2/1* (betting odds taken from Betway at 23:31 GMT on Thursday, 20th August 2020). She is in brilliant form and last season she completed a hattrick.

On her appearance she claimed a fourth place finish in the Princess Of Wales’s Tattersalls Stakes (Group 2). But she hit her peak again to land her fourth win in her last six runs as she appeared at the Lillie Langtry at Goodwood.

Enbihaar collected the win in that Group 2 fixture emphatically, but it was only a three-runner fixture. She does prefer it a little bit softer underfoot than what it could be at York on Friday. But she does bring strong claims.

NAYEF ROAD
5/2

Can Dashing Willoughby land a hattrick

DASHING WILLOUGHBY has secured back to back wins since his reappearance this season. He is just looking better and better for trainer Andrew Balding and he has Oisin Murphy in the saddle.

The reappearance with a win at Newmarket in a Listed contest and that followed that up convincingly with a success in a 16f trip at Sandown in the Henry II Stakes (Group 3) in early July.

He is a very good stayer and looks to be a key player in this hot contest from 10/3* (betting odds taken from Betway at 23:31 GMT on Thursday, 20th August 2020)

Nayef Road a threat

The one thing that NAYEF ROAD is going to be most pleased about is not having to face Stradivarius who has gotten the better of him in his last two runs.

Nayef Road finished runner up to Stradivarius in the Ascot Gold Cup and at the Al Shaqab Goodwood Cup Stakes (Group 1). So it’s reasonable to assume that he will have a clearer path ahead of him.

He was the winner of the Sagaro Stakes at Newcastle on his return to action this season.

Nayef Road’s experience has been up at Group 1 and therefore he has to be near a very good score in this competitive run from 5/2* (betting odds taken from Betway at 23:31 GMT on Thursday, 20th August 2020).

Can Withhold find more

There was a win for WITHHOLD on his last run. Last Autumn he got a big score in the Rowly. He delivered a win in his last run which was on the July Course at Newmarket.

That win was landed on a drop-down in grade. He was in the Ascot Gold Cup back in July and delivered fourth place there.

In the race before that, he finished well down the field in the Sagaro Stakes.

He is not to be discounted in this fixture at all and may have some e/w appeal from 11/1* (betting odds taken from Betway at 23:31 GMT on Thursday, 20th August 2020).

Eagles By Day

The last appearance by EAGLES BY DAY showed up in the Goodwood Cup and ran well to collect a fourth-place finish there.

But he never looked to have enough in them to collect a win in that.

He is probably going to have to find a lot more even above that fixture to get himself into the frame in this one.

Stratum

STRATUM is a bit of a troublesome horse for punters to follow. He has scored in two of his last three flat runs, the highlight of which was securing a win in the Cesarewitch in October.

He has had only three runs since November last year and they were all in National Hunt action and he failed to produce any kind of form in those.

Stratum was last season at the end of the July over the hurdles and looked badly in need of a couple of runs.

Predictions & Tips for York Lonsdale Cup Stakes Racing Odds

We have to go straight to NAYEF ROAD in this one. The only opponent that he has found too good in his last two runs has been the brilliant Stradivarius.

But last year’s winner of this race isn’t in the picture here so that really should pave a way for Nayef Road to score a nice victory in this one.

But it is a strong field here with DASHING WILLOGUBY pulling a lot of interest for this contest. He is right in form at the moment and he has the staying power to compete.

The other one to fill out the top three is ENBIHAAR who will be a lot sharper for that success at the Lillie Langtry. But we find enough in the aforementioned two to get the better of her.
