Gabrial The Wire
As things currently stand GABRIAL THE WIRE is the joint-favourite in the betting market for this contest at 5/2 * (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 21:11 GMT on Tuesday 30th June) alongside Muntadab who will take a look at next.
It has been two trips for him since reappearance and the most recent of those was at Ascot just shy of two weeks ago.
He was fifth in the contest which turned out to be pretty warm, and Gabrial The Wire did run well in it.
Gabrial The Wire just didn’t have anything left to go and deliver. He does drop 1lb for this one now as he makes what will be his Musselburgh bow.
Gabriel The Wire has won two of his last three runs at the 7f distance.
Course and distance winner Muntadab with strong claims
Because of precious Course and distance history, MUNTADAB will have appeal for punters. He has been tumbling down the weights to a place where he is in with a decent chance of coming up with a win.
At Doncaster last month on his reappearance he was second in what was a much-improved effort. Last season did not go well for him, but a third and then a second in his last two trips, does suggest that he’s not far away.
He has one win and a place from three previous visits to Musselburgh so likes the track.

Asdaa can mount a serious challenge
ASDAA is shaping up well enough because of consistency in his game at the moment. He made his reappearance in early June with a third of 12 at Newmarket at the 7f distance.
He was last seen on June 13th putting in a 5th of twelve at Doncaster over a furlong further in a class 3 handicap. So he should bring a decent challenge to the table.
Asdaa won a 7f trip at Wolverhampton earlier this season at class 4. One to keep on-side in what does appear to be a wide-open field.

The rest of the field
Up there at top weight is THREE SAINTS BAY who has won at course and distance before. He has had five C&D efforts with the one success and one place from that.
Three Saints Bay was put back into a 7f effort at Newmarket in May and really didn’t go well at all. He appears to be fully struggling at the moment to find his range, but he was third on his most recent C&D effort in October.
RUX RUXX will make his reappearance in this one. A change of yard did wonders for him last season as he scored four times. Among those wins was a course and distance success as well.
Rux Ruxx returned from a 276 day break and did struggle at Musselburgh in his last race, trailing home second from last.
Rounding out the field is TADAAWOL who is a big 6lb below his last winning weight. He made a reappearance at Haydock recently when things were not right with the 7 year old. But on his game and in ripe health, there could be place claims.
Predictions & Tips
We are going to split the joint-favourites and lean towards MUNTADAB for the score. He is just bubbling along nicely given his last two results.
That runners-up finish at Doncaster saw him go well and he is well worth backing to get something on the board here and put a disappointing previous campaign behind him.
GABRIAL THE WIRE should be there or thereabouts, as this isn’t a strong field that he is taking on particularly. Hard to see anyone else taking this win really, but Asdaa could challenge to shake things up.
