This is a Group 1 race and the market has been tight between DAME MALLIOT and WONDERFUL TONIGHT.

Dame Maillot the 9/2 FAV for British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes

A narrow market leader at the time of writing is DAME MALLIOT at 9/2* (odds taken from Betway at 21:11 GMT on Friday, 16th October 2020).

She has won a couple of times at Group 2 in her career, and should be a big contender here.

The last effort that she produced was in the Prix Vermeille at Longchamp when she collected a very strong third place there.

That was last month and she had Wonderful Tonight behind her in that fixture as well.

This is not quite facing the same kind of quality on this Saturday trip. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see her get her first top level score.

Wonderful Tonight to have a great afternoon?

Warranting some respect for this contest is WONDERFUL TONIGHT. A couple of weeks ago she was in the Prix de Royallieu and scored a success there.

That was a breakthrough at the top level from her and so she has to be a threat.

The only thing was that it was really heavy going at Longchamp for that trip.

But she actually goes well on the testing conditions and if she’s still at her sharpest, we would expect to see her get close from 4/1* (odds taken from Betway at 21:11 GMT on Friday, 16th October 2020).

Antonia De Vega seeks a hattrick

Last year ANTONIA DE VEGA was in this race and she never really settled. She ended up taking a sixth place finish there, the race not getting the best out of her.

But this season’s form puts her in the frame for a better time of things in the 2020 edition. She has won her two trips for this campaign, the best of which was a Group 3 trip at Newmarket.

Antoina De Vega looks to be in great shape at the moment.

A bold challenge is expected from her at Ascot. She is a 6/1 option for this race in horse racing betting* (odds taken from Betway at 21:11 GMT on Friday, 16th October 2020).

Even So to bounce back?

6/1 shot EVEN SO was last seen in action at the Prix Vermeille in which she finished sixth* (odds taken from Betway at 21:11 GMT on Friday, 16th October 2020).

That can be excused, as the emphasis of that race just came down to speed, so it wasn’t in Even So’s favour.

But she had scored well in her two races before that, which is why she is going to pique some interest for punters.

The first of those was in a Listed fixture at Naas before stepping up to claim the Irish Oaks. Even So is not to be written out of this contest as she has another crack at the top level.

Can Frankly Darling get back on track?

One runner who is in need of a shake up is FRANKLY DARLING who has just gone a little cold.

She kicked off the new campaign in cracking style, taking back to back wins. The best of those was at Royal Ascot in the Ribblesdale.

But then when she was thrown into the Oaks and the Yorkshire Oaks, with big things expected of her, she struggled a bit.

The John Gosden-trained filly does have the potential in her.

If she rediscovers her top form, place claims could be there from 16/1 in horse racing betting* (odds taken from Betway at 21:11 GMT on Friday, 16th October 2020).

Others to note

MANUELA DE VEGA just looks to have gone the wrong way with her form in Group 1. The last two races that she has had have been at the top level.

She struggled in both of those. But she showed brilliant form on her reappearance race when she scored the Lancashire Oaks.

LABURNUM has been beaten by a couple from this field recently. She was behind Even So in the Irish Oaks (4th) and then behind Wonderful Tonight at the Prix Minerve.

But then she turned the tables on them both to finish ahead of them in fourth place at the Prix Vermeille. She could use stiffer ground.

Predictions & Tips for British Fillies & Mares Stakes Racing Odds

An interesting race is this one, because a lot of the main contenders are familiar with each other. We would just have to shade favouritism to DAME MALLIOT at 9/2 in this one* (odds taken from Betway at 21:11 GMT on Friday, 16th October 2020).

That is because she did get the better of Wonderful Tonight at the Prix Vermeille last month.

Since then, WONDERFUL TONIGHT had a tough battle at the Prix de Royallieu which may have taken something out of her.

We expect those two to be in the top three in some kind of order at the end of the day.

Backing things up for a selection, we will go with ANTONIA DE VEGA who is sitting on a hattrick.

She just looks to be in the sharpest shape possible at the moment does the four year old.

This is a step up in level, but she looks as if she may be able to handle herself* (odds taken from Betway at 21:11 GMT on Friday, 16th October 2020).
