Stradivarius the 8/11 FAV in Sagaro Stakes Racing Odds

Will there be a return to form for the great STRADIVARIUS who is 8/11 odds-on in Sagaro Stakes racing odds?* (odds recorded at 21:09 GMT on April 27th, 2021 at Ladbrokes.co.uk)

He has been one of the most dominant players in this sphere for the last three years, but there was a big blip for him at the end of last season.

Over course and distance in the Long Distance Cup, Stradivarius just produced a poor run. But given the class of the seven-year-old, it’s worth expecting him to bounce back.

That run in the Long Distance Cup wasn’t long after his effort in the Arc in some testing conditions underfoot.

There are bigger prizes on the line that he will be targeting this season of course, namely the Ascot Gold Cup. His success here last year’s renewal of that was sublime.

Refreshed and ready to go, Stradivarius is the obvious big player in the Sagaro Stakes at a course he loves.

Can Nayef Road find enough to challenge?

The biggest threat in this field to Stradivarius clearly looks like being NAYEF ROAD. He was beaten here by Stradivarius in last season’s Ascot Gold Cup. That was by 10 lengths.

There is a quote of 10/3 in Sagaro Stakes racing odds for Nayef Road getting the win on Wednesday.

He was the winner of this race last year, which was hosted at Newcastle.

So this race will once again be a reappearance run for Nayef Road as well.

That win in last year’s Sagaro Stakes was after Nayef Road had claimed back to back second place finishes in Group 1 company.

There are easy place claims here. Can he do enough refreshes to lay down a strong enough challenge to turn the tables on Stradivarius?

Can the improving Ocean Wind have a say?

In 2020 there was three wins tallied for OCEAN WIND.

He is clearly heading in the right direction and enters the Sagaro Stakes racing odds at 7/1* (odds recorded at 21:09 GMT on April 27th, 2021 at Ladbrokes.co.uk).

One slight advantage that he may have for this race over his rivals is that he is match fit. Ocean Wind has taken a couple of runs this season, finishing runner-up in both.

The most recent of those was at Nottingham three weeks ago in a listed race. He was runner up in that one which was at a shorter distance.

The extra trip here will certainly help him and Ocean Wind is a big player for the places at Ascot.

Prince Of Arran

PRINCE OF ARRAN is a good stayer and he opened this season with a place finish in the Melbourne Cup. That’s the third time that he has achieved that.

He followed up that effort with a fairly heavy loss in Riyadh on a 1m 7f trip in February. He was sixth lengths back of winner Gifts Of Gold in that one.

Back in 2017 Prince Of Arran was the runner up in the Sagaro Stakes, and has a lot of winning experience between 1m and 2m.

This looks like a tall order for him however, but he is a place contender from 8/1* (odds recorded at 21:09 GMT on April 27th, 2021 at Ladbrokes.co.uk).

Stag Horn

16/1 shot in Sagaro Stakes racing odds STAG HORN roared into some great form at the back end of last season* (odds recorded at 21:09 GMT on April 27th, 2021 at Ladbrokes.co.uk).

In a conditions event at Pontefract he managed to complete a hattrick for the season, and a quick one as well.

Stag Horn has been gelded since that effort, so it will be interesting to see what he can produce as a four year old this season.

There is good potential there, but this is such a tough race against high-quality opposition to take on for a reappearance.

Desert Skyline

The rank outsider in the Sagaro Stakes on Wednesday at Ascot is DESERT SKYLINE as he looks for his first win since the 2017 Doncaster Cup.

The last run that he had was back in the 2019 Ebor so it’s a very long absence which won’t appeal too much.

The usual headgear stays off and this could be used as experience and getting him back match fit more than anything else.

Desert Skyline comes in as a 25/1 shot* (odds recorded at 21:09 GMT on April 27th, 2021 at Ladbrokes.co.uk).

Predictions & Tips for Sagaro Stakes Racing Odds

We would have leaned towards STRADIVARIUS producing the kind of staying performance that he has become renowned for.

He is the justifiable 8/11 odds-on favourite and we only have to think back to his Ascot Gold Cup success last year as a reminder of how good he is.

The ones that look the likeliest to get close to him in any kind of shape or manner are NAYEF ROAD and OCEAN WIND.

Both are accomplished enough to produce good runs.

We would have to side with Nayef Road being the one following Stradivarius home, as he produced some excellent Group 1 efforts last season.
