Roksana the one to beat in the bet365 Hurdle on Saturday at Wetherby?

Horse Racing Betting

Race 5 from Wetherby on Saturday brings the bet365 Hurdle into focus (registered as the West Yorkshire Hurdle).

This is one of the big highlights of the day from the card’s action at the venue and it’s a Grade 2 contest.

The distance is a 3m trip for those declared, which tallies 9 for Saturday’s action. At the head of the market sits ROKSANA currently.

Last year’s winner of the bet365 Hurdle at Wetherby was The World’s End from a 7/2 SP (Adrian Heskin / T R George).

Roksana the 2/1 FAV for bet365 Hurdle success

David Skelton’s mare ROKSANA should come strongly in this race on Saturday. She was last seen in action at Cheltenham Festival in March. That was in the Mares’ Hurdle in which she took a fourth place finish.

Roksana is a current 2/1 quote for success in this one* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 19:38 GMT on Friday, 30th October 2020). So it is a seven-month break that she is shaking off and is a reliable, consistent sort.

She does carry with her a good record of stepping back into action refreshed. She is gaining weight against the other key players here. The trip will be right in her wheelhouse as well, so looks to have strong claims.

WHOLESTONE
15/2

Lisnagar Oscar should make his presence felt

An obvious contender in this field is LISNAGAR OSCAR. That was on the back of a major score at the Cheltenham Festival in March. He came up big to land the Stayers’ Hurdle at the Festival, defying huge 50/1 odds.

He is at 3/1 to claim the win on Saturday in the bet365 Hurdle* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 19:38 GMT on Friday, 30th October 2020).

That was obviously a greatly improved performance from Lisnagar Oscar to get that win at the Festival. It will be interesting to see what he has in him on his reappearance.

After what he did at Cheltenham he will take plenty of support for this, but will have to give weight to the rest of the field to earn a success at Wetherby.

Wholestone to make a bold show

WHOLESTONE produced some positives when stepping into the chasing sphere last season. He won two of his final three races of that campaign.

The most recent of those was in securing a 3m success at Cheltenham last November.

So it is a big 11-month absence that is the question mark here for him. But that may not be a thing here.

Wholestone has won three of his last four seasonal reappearance runs, so has a strong track record refreshed.

The 9 year old has taken two wins in his three chase efforts and he was the favourite in each of those contests.

Wholestone does also have form in this race as well. He was a second place finisher in the 2017 edition.

From a quote of 15/2 in the market currently, there are strong claims from the 9 year old* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 19:38 GMT on Friday, 30th October 2020).

Decor Irlandais another main player to watch

While DECOR IRLANDAIS does look as if he needs to continue his progress, if he delivers more in this one then he could be in the frame. Last season he won three of his seven appearances.

He took another good step forward this season. On his second run back in action he easily won a handicap to Killarney. That was just over a couple of months ago, back in August.

Decor Irlandais is coming in at a current quote of 7/1, but is an interesting player without question* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 19:38 GMT on Friday, 30th October 2020). This is all about potential further progress from him.

Copperhead happier back over the hurdles?

Stepping into the RSA at this year’s Cheltenham Festival, Copperhead did not get the result that he wanted. He had gone to Prestbury Park in some hot form, seeking a four-timer for the season.

Unfortunately for him he was a faller in the RSA.

The last of his wins though was up at Grade 2 at Ascot in February, which completed a hattrick at the time.

The switch back to the smaller stuff could see him come on strong and he brings reasonable each way claims to the table from 12/1* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 19:38 GMT on Friday, 30th October 2020).

Rest of the runners

CHAPMANSHYPE is sitting on a hattrick. With three runs under his belt this season he is currently match fit against those returning.

Those recent successes on board as well, and having shown a good attitude, he should appeal. Will likely have a lot more to find still in terms of locking down a win.

KILDISART is coming back into action for the first time since participating at the Cheltenham Festival earlier this year. It’s a lot to ask of him on his reappearance and switching back to the hurdles.

NEXT DESTINATION has a decnet track record over the hurdles behind him. He went at Cheltenham 2018 last time out, competition in the Ballymore and he battled to a third place finish there. But this is a super long absence he is dealing with.

THE DUTCHMAN is another that is coming back for the first time following almost two years away. Like Next Destination he was doing well as a novice chaser. But he failed to even complete his final two runs of 2018.

Predictions & Tips for bet365 Hurdle Racing Odds

What a superb line up we have in this one with some really strong claims going. We are going to make ROKSANA the top pick for the contest though at 2/1* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 19:38 GMT on Friday, 30th October 2020).

She has a great track record refreshed and we think that she is going to be in sharper shape than the other leading contender LISNAGAR OSCAR. The fact that she gains weight against the main players also appeals massively.

Making up the shortlist for our horse racing predictions in this bet365 hurdle will be veteran WHOLESTONE who is a very interesting player here. What we like about him is his very strong record coming back refreshed.
