Parody 5/2 FAV in Newton Abbot Racing Odds

There is a tough challenge ahead for PARODY here we feel, despite winning a couple of times at Newton Abbot last summer over course and distance.

No doubt she should be able to pull into the frame under handicapping terms. She lines up as the 5/2 favourite * (betting odds taken from 888Sport at 20:11 GMT on Tuesday, 4th August 2020).

Parody made her return to action last month after a year away from the track and looked comfortable in taking second place on her handicap debut.

So all that of course paints some solid claims for her, but she is facing some stiff competition.

DOUBLY CLEVER
5/2

Bootlegger can raise a stern challenge

BOOTLEGGER looks to be in good shape currently. He has been away from action since March after taking a third place finish at Kempton.

He went well in that one however which was after a win in January at Doncaster.

The 7 year old has plenty of quality and looks to be in prime form for trainer Neil Mulholland and the moment and therefore he has to enter considerations at 11/2* (betting odds taken from 888Sport at 20:11 GMT on Tuesday, 4th August 2020).

Bootlegger claims 3lb for jockey Harry Reed.

Doubly Clever to launch a smart attack

Another with some big claims for this contest is DOUBLY CLEVER who is well-respected in the market at 3/1* (betting odds taken from 888Sport at 20:11 GMT on Tuesday, 4th August 2020).

He came back into action after a break by scoring a facile win at course and distance just a couple of weeks ago.

He is facing a little bit more in opposition here, but after scoring three times last summer, there’s a big chance that he will feature.

Jaytrack Parkhomes to show more?

In the hands of Colin Tizzard, JAYTRACK PARKHOMES promises to deliver a little more than he has shown. Last season he placed in all but one of his five bumper starts and could be a player in this.

He appeared to handle himself well over the fences and steps on up again to some stiffer challenges here, there could be more that he finds in the tank.

Jaytrack Parkhomes is a very interesting entrant at 5/1* (betting odds taken from 888Sport at 20:11 GMT on Tuesday, 4th August 2020).

At Its Own Expense may return in form

Closing out his last campaign, AT ITS OWN EXPENSE was in fine nick, placing in his last two efforts. There was a win for him in a novice hurdle event last February too.

But he has been hit hard but the handicapper in this one, so will have to defy a bit of weight against some of the other leading contenders.

Will punters have enough trust in him on a return to handicapping action?

The Rest of the Runners

BHUTAN has had a recent run under his belt. That was a relatively average run at Bangor where he took seventh place. But that was after a long break and there could be more to come.

TEASER was 6th on his return to action last month. He was struggling at Newton Abbot on that run over the fences among better company however. But Teaser scored a hattrick last summer over hurdles and fences.

PERCY STREET claimed a 5th place finish on his return to action. But he was behind Doubly Clever on that run over course and distance. Percy Street is 3lb on his last victory. Needs a much better run.

MIDNIGHT SAPPHIRE looked as if she badly needed her run at Newton Abbot last month. There were plenty of cobwebs to shake out. The lightly raced mare is a former course and distance winner however, and comes back up in trip.

Predictions & Tips for Newton Abbot Racing Odds

While PARODY showed some very good form last summer at Newton Abbot and goes at the head of the market, we have to take her on.

DOUBLY CLEVER scored an excellent course and distance win on his last effort, he comes up 7lb which looks to be fair, and so we have to just side with him as our option from 7/1 * (betting odds taken from 888Sport at 20:11 GMT on Tuesday, 4th August 2020).

We will also heavily consider BOOTLEGGER as well for this contest on his return. That will be based on his big score at Doncaster in January in a big field.
