Llandinabo Lad could take the win in a very strong Ascot line up

Horse Racing Betting

One of the big races from Ascot on Friday is the Sky Bet Supreme Trial Novices’ Hurdle. This is registered as The Kennel Gate.

This is a Grade 2 contest with a nod towards next year’s Cheltenham Festival happening.

The race is open to 4-year-olds and there are 6 runners for this year’s renewal.

Last year’s winner was MASTER DEBONAIR from a 3/1 SP (R M Power/C L Tizzard).

Heading up the market for this year’s run is SOARING GLORY in what looks to be a superb renewal.

Soaring Glory the 3/1 joint-favourite for Supreme Trial Novices’ Hurdle

Support was coming in on Friday for SOARING GLORY ahead of this contest, leaving him at 3/1 joint-favourite for the score* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 17:41 GMT on Thursday, 17th December 2020).

He is likely to be a strong presence in the field. He got off the mark over the hurdles at the first time of asking on his reappearance this season.

That was at Chepstow, before following up with an excellent follow up at Newbury.

He found only an equally strong prospect too good on the day in that one.

Soaring Glory looked set to then get back to winning ways immediately before taking a tumble late on at Wetherby last time out.

Soaring Glory had been a very strong odds-on favourite for that.

Llandinabo Lad
3/1

William Hill

Llandiabo Lad a big threat in hot contest

There is no arguing with the form of LLANDINABO LAD this season. That’s because there has been back to back wins from him.

He opened the season with a win at Bangor on what was his hurdles debut. That score happened after an 11-month break.

The next successful effort for Llandinabo Lad was then at Haydock in a Listed event.

So having had two excellent runs in this campaign, he is likely to play a big part in this.

There does appear to be plenty more to come from him as well. Llandinabo Lad goes as 3/1 joint-favourite* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 17:41 GMT on Thursday, 17th December 2020).

Unexposed My Drogo looks a fantastic prospect

MY DROGO is looking a threat in this one as well at 9/2* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 17:41 GMT on Thursday, 17th December 2020).

The son of Milan took a second-place finish in a Cheltenham bumper to kick off his career.

But then on an immediate move to hurdles, he got the score. That was three weeks ago in a Newbury effort and he looked fantastic for it.

He stood out on that occasion and the gelding looks to have a great engine. There should be an improvement over the hurdles as well after that win.

No Ordinary Joe likely to make his presence felt

NO ORDINARY JOE is another of the strong runners that are lining up in this one.

This will be just the second career run for Nicky Henderson’s gelding. He opened with a victory on his debut in a Sandown Bumper.

That was 40 days ago and he was well in control at the finish of that one. The switch to the hurdles looks likely to pull even more out of him.

This is such a hot race and No Ordinary Joe looks such a great prospect, there should be place claims there on the table and he is respected at 10/3* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 17:41 GMT on Thursday, 17th December 2020).

Shantou Express completes strong line up

SHANTOU EXPRESS is also sitting on a hattrick as he goes in what will be his fifth run of the season.

So he has been busier than the others. He scored a win at Exeter by a wide margin in October to get himself off the mark in this sphere.

Shantou Express then delivered comfortably in a follow up at Sedgefield a couple of weeks ago.

That was in a novice hurdles event and he is definitely on the up over the fences at the moment and is a 7/1 player for this contest* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 17:41 GMT on Thursday, 17th December 2020).

Press Your Luck seeks a hattrick

Another in this field who is looking to nail a hat trick is PRESS YOUR LUCK.

The Irish point winner picked up a win on his hurdles debut (also his reappearance) back at Newton Abbot in October.

He showed plenty of staying class in that one to get the win. Press Your Luck is at 18/1* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 17:41 GMT on Thursday, 17th December 2020).

He then stepped out to throw a penalty aside in a nice clean run at Uttoxeter to score his second over the obstacles.

That was a win over Mocacreme Has by 1 1/2 lengths. The form is there and Press Your Luck has to be respected as well on Friday.

Predictions & Tips for Supreme Trial Novices’ Hurdle Racing Odds

What a high-class form field we have to dig through in this one. We can find claims from all six of the declared runners here.

The first of our selections is going to be LLANDINABO LAD though to complete the hattrick.

We liked what we saw in a debut hurdles win at Bangor. The fact that he delivered at Listed company as a follow up suggests there’s even more.

He goes as our main pick at 3/1* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 17:41 GMT on Thursday, 17th December 2020).

SOARING GLORY can be followed as well despite a fall last time out at. The form that he has produced this season has been simply wonderful and he could easily have completed a hattrick already. We think he’s one to watch.

We will finish off with MY DROGO who looks a thrilling prospect. A perfect start from him over the hurdles for David Skelton saw him make such a good impression, that we can’t count him out of this one even in such a strong field.
