Atholl Street the one to beat in Dovecote Novices’ Hurdle?

There has been plenty of top form shown by ATHOLL STREET this season for Pual Nicholls. The six-year-old has just come on leaps and bounds over the hurdles.

Atholl Street opened his account this season with back to back successes over the timbers at Taunton. Both wins were delivered in fine style as well.

Atholl Street heads into action on Saturday as the 2/1 favourite for this contest* (betting odds recorded at 21:01 GMT on February 26th, 2021).

The latest of those Taunton victories saw him handlinga penalty and looking top class while at it.

Atholl Street is on a big upward curve at the moment.

Calico is the big threat to the favourite

The other main contender in this field is CALICO who is a 3/1 quote at the moment in horse racing betting* (betting odds recorded at 21:01 GMT on February 26th, 2021).

The German horse, who did place in a Group 3, made his debut for David Skelton on his latest effort.

That was 37 days ago at Ludlow when he picked up a win in a field of thirteen.

There should be further improvement to come from Calico and he did win three times on the flat in Germany last year.

He made a pretty strong impression on his hurdles debut.

Can Cape Gentleman get a bounce-back performance done?

CAPE GENTLEMAN picked up a victory on his hurdles debut at Punchestown in December.

He looked such an exciting prospect in that 20f race and he has to be on the radar for Saturday’s run.

On his follow up to that win at Punchestown, Cape Gentleman was in a Grade 1 fixture at Leopardstown.

There was something not right at all with him on the day, but he’s worth revisiting on his earlier form this season.

Part of an issue that he had was that he was pulling right a lot in that one, and he failed to complete the race.

So this track could suit him a lot better and is easily one to watch for the shortlist at 5/2 * (betting odds recorded at 21:01 GMT on February 26th, 2021).

Son Of Red showing potential

Alan King’s SON OF RED piques some interest in this excellent race as well. He got off the mark at the first time of asking in this sphere.

Son Of Red got that win over the hurdles at Newcastle back in November. He was then sent to Cheltenham on a 2m 1f trip in December.

He could only manage third there in what was a much tougher race and was never in the frame to collect the score.

But he was third behind Adagio who has since gone on to win a Grade 1 fixture.

So there are some each-way claims there for Son Of Red from a 16/1 mark* (betting odds recorded at 21:01 GMT on February 26th, 2021).

Lunar Sovereign seeks a hattrick

It will be very interesting to see what LUNAR SOVEREIGN does at this level.

Given the recent form that he has produced, he deserved a good chance to see what he can do.

There was nothing more than average bumper form from him, but stepping up to the hurdles he has impressed massively.

It’s been back to back victories at Wetherby and Doncaster for Lunar Sovereign.

He comes back to play on Saturday as an 11/1 contender* (betting odds recorded at 21:01 GMT on February 26th, 2021).

Others in this field are checked for greater potential than he is, but place claims could well be there after shrugging off a penalty to score last time out.

Can Makcenberg find the improvement needed?

MECKENBERG was an expensive purchase and he immediately fired off a win on his hurdles debut.

That was at Carlisle on his reappearance run in October last year.

He couldn’t quite find enough to back that up, however, with place finishes at Wetherby and Aintree to follow that opening effort.

The latter of those losses was a heavy one but he has since responded by taking a win in a jumpers bumper.

Can he find the form over the timbers to get himself in the frame?

Mackenberg is a quote of 14/1 to score on Saturday and he looks as if he has a lot to find to do that* (betting odds recorded at 21:01 GMT on February 26th, 2021).

Pyramid Place making up the numbers?

It has been back to back wins for PYRAMID PLACE in recent action and he has now moved onto a 3-5 record in this sphere.

The most recent of those wins was in a small Catterick field just under two weeks ago.

Pyramid Place does have some jumping form to find and this is a fairly big step up in levels of difficulty that he is going to be undertaking on the weekend.

He probably isn’t quite ready to make such a huge leap right now and is making up the numbers at 28/1* (betting odds recorded at 21:01 GMT on February 26th, 2021).

Predictions & Tips for Dovecote Novices’ Hurdle Racing Odds

This is a really good competitive line up and our first selection is going to be CALICO at 3/1* (betting odds recorded at 21:01 GMT on February 26th, 2021).

His hurdles debut in the UK at Ludlow was fantastic. Calico looked really good there and full of further development.

The other options selection is going to be ATHOLL STREET as he just all around looks to be a bit of class and quality and is sitting on a hattrick.

The final name for the shortlist in this contest is going to be SON OF RED as an outsider from a 15/1 quote* (betting odds recorded at 21:01 GMT on February 26th, 2021).

He maybe didn’t progress as much as hoped on his second go over the hurdles but was the winner of that race has since gone on to a Grade 1 win and Son Of Red has placed claims.
