The market leader for this contest is PERFECT POWER at 2/1* (odds recorded at 21:38 GMT on April 15th 2022 at Unibet).

He has bigger targets this season in the Classics, but this represents a good season-opener for him.

Perfect Power closed out last season with four wins in his final five contests.

The only exception to his winning form was when he was crowded out in the Richmond.

But Perfect Power led the class in taking the Group 1 Prix Morny at Deauville on his penultimate run, before landing the Middle Park in his final appearance of last season.

The colt makes the move up to 7f for his reappearance run and looks like having a bold run in him.

Jockey Christophe Soumillion makes the trip to stick with Perfect Power.

Can Angel Bleu continue where he left off?

There is a big threat in his contest to come from ANGEL BLEU if he arrives in the form he was in at the end of last season.

He looks like a very good one and his big UK success wasn’t the Vintage Stakes at Goodwood.

There was further maturity unveiled when he scored twice in France at the end of the campaign as well.

Those were Group 1 wins recorded by Angel Bleu.

Form from those perhaps could have been stronger, but Angel Bleu warrants respect.

Lusail could show in the right conditions

Not wanting the ground to soften up any will be LUSAIL whose challenge could hang on the conditions underfoot.

He was such a good performer last season, taking some hot contests in his first season.

There were Group 2 wins produced by Lusail in the July Stakes and the Gimcrack, two of four wins that he recorded.

With a distance win under his belt, Lusail is no forlorn hope from 9/2* (odds recorded at 21:38 GMT on April 15th 2022 at Unibet).

He should be right there despite struggling on his final run of last season. He’s back recharged and fits well.

What does Flaming Rib have in him?

There were plenty of encouraging signs for connections of FLAMING RIB last season as he stacked up the wins.

He was on an upward curve at the end of the previous campaign, completing a four-timer.

That was achieved in a Doncaster Listed race in October.

Flaming Rib has since changed yards and gets the hood on for the first time on Saturday.

Gubbass could be found wanting

Looking back at the form of GUBBASS he didn’t give as much scope as perhaps some of these other rivals did.

There was a very encouraging start made by Gubbass, winning his first two runs of the season.

One of those was recorded at Newbury.

Gubbass wasn’t disgraced in either the Richmond Stakes or the Prix Morny without ever looking like having enough to win.

He then went back to the Mill Reef before going into his break.

The Wizard Of Eye the big outsider

There was a victory last summer at Newbury for THE WIZARD OF EYE but he never backed it up with further success.

But the colt did still give a fairly decent account of himself in Group company since landing that score.

The Wizard Of Eye has had a reappearance run, running in a poor finish in Saudi Arabia 49 days ago.

Possible excuses were there, but he genuinely looks to have a lot to find in this one.
