One of the big races of the day at Wincanton in the Unibet Elite Hurdle. This is only a small field and heading up the current horse racing betting is SCEAU ROYAL at odds-on.

If he comes back in top form then he is, most likely, going to be the one to beat on Saturday.

The Unibet Elite Hurdle is a Grade 2 fixture at 1m 7f distance. There are just the six runners declared for the contest which is open to 4 year olds and above.

Last year’s winner was FUSIL RAFFLES from a 4/7 odds-on SP (D A Jacob / N J Henderson).

Sceau Royal 10/11 odds-on for Unibet Elite Hurdle

The clear market leader in the horse racing betting market is SCEAU ROYAL at 5/6* (betting odds taken from Unibet at 22:38 GMT on Friday, 6th November 2020).

He has already had a taste of success this season.

Following a wind surgery on his reappearance, he scored at Ffos Las three weeks ago in the Welsh Champion Hurdle.

That was a strong effort from him and he came back looking for a second win in this race.

Sceau Royal claimed the win in the Elite Hurdle 2016. He looked really good back over the hurdles at Ffos Las and if he’s anywhere near that again, he is going to set the standard in this fixture.

Sceau Royal has fought in much better races than this in chase action and it’s good to see him really at the forefront in hurdles action.

Diego Du Charmil in with a chance

There was a third place for Paul Nicholls’ gelding DIEGO DU CHARMIL on his reappearance run.

He is another, like the favourite, who is more well known for his chasing endeavours. It was a third place finish at kempton for his seasonal opener.

That was a 2m trip last month and he ended up getting beaten by eight lengths. But it was a decent enough run to have sharpened him up well for this bigger effort.

That’s actually back to back decent efforts over the hurdles at Kempton.

On the back of that recent effort, he is a 13/2 contender in this run* (betting odds taken from Unibet at 22:38 GMT on Friday, 6th November 2020).

Is Solo the biggest challenger to Sceau Royal?

SOLO, another of Paul Nicholls charges for this race, also looks to have enough to be right in the frame in this small field.

This will be his reappearance run that he is going into on Saturday with Harry Cobden in the saddle.

Solo posted a couple of wins last season, winning his first UK appearance at Kempton and he looked to have very good jumping form.

He was last seen in the Triumph at the Cheltenham Festival in March where he didn’t run as well.

So the hattrick chance went begging for him, but Solo is still to be well respected at 3/1* (betting odds taken from Unibet at 22:38 GMT on Friday, 6th November 2020).

During his break he has been gelded which could bring even more out of him.

Master Debonair a smart hurdler

Another who is making his seasonal reappearance is MASTER DEBONAIR for Colin Tizzard. He got a couple of wins at Ascot over a 2m distance last season.

One of them was a Grade 2 effort as well, so he knows what this is all about.

He fell a little bit flatter on his final run of last season, but he took third and that’s no reason to look past him.

Master Debonair looks to have enough about him to kick off his second season in this sphere with a bold run.

We want to just take a closer look at his winning form from last season.

In his Grade 2 Ascot victory he thumped Ribble Valley by eight lengths. Ribble Valley has since gone on to score recently at Carlisle, which supports Master Debonair’s claims here.

Teqany with a lot on his plate?

TEQANY missed out on a hattrick chance on his last run. He collected a couple of wins at Newton Abbot and Bangor in September.

Those were both handicap fixtures as well. He was last seen on a big step up to Listed company at Kempton.

He wasn’t totally disgraced in that fixture either, which was won by Diego Du Charmil. Teqany took a fourth place finish in that hurdle effort over 2m last month.

That was on good ground, but he is probably going to find a lot more to take this from 28/1* (betting odds taken from Unibet at 22:38 GMT on Friday, 6th November 2020).

Brandon Castle the big outsider

The lowest rated horse in the field for Saturday’s Unibet Elite hurdle is BRANDON CASTLE at 40/1* (betting odds taken from Unibet at 22:38 GMT on Friday, 6th November 2020).

He is a horse that likes to get to the front and take things on. He won a couple of times in the summer at Market Rasen.

Brandon Castle was seen back there six weeks ago in a Listed race. It was a bit of a disappointing run from him in that one, missing out on a hattrick chance by a long way. He’s not likely to be close.

Predictions & Tips for Wincanton Unibet Elite Hurdle Racing Odds

We are just going to stay with the favourite of SCEAU ROYAL in this one as our pick. If he continues where he left off in the Welsh Champion Hurdle, then he is going to take some beating in this fixture.

It is hard to see past him because of that, and he looks to be a very good fit now back in this sphere. It will be a shock to us if he gets picked off.

The big challenger that we see to him in this small field is the exciting SOLO who comes back for his reappearance run.

It has been a good time for him after coming over to the UK and Paul Nicholls will likely have him ready and even better for this second season.
