Stormy Antarctic heads a competitive field
The current 11/4 favourite then is STORMY ANTARCTIC* (betting odds taken from Coral at 22:22 GMT on Saturday June 27th 2020). He has had a recent run on a reappearance which backers will be happy about.
In that race he took a decent fourth place at the Diomed Stakes at Newbury over a mile. That was just a couple of weeks ago, so it was a run to get some competitive air into his lungs ahead of this one.
He should be right there in the mix and Stormy Antarctic is the highest rated horse in this field He did place on his previous run out at Newmarket and rightly should be respected in this contest.
DAVYDENKO
Will punters desert DAVYDENKO? He had a good campaign last season, but his reappearance recently won’t have instilled great confidence.
He was third from last in a Newmarket effort three weeks ago.
But the amount that he delivered last season, including a course and distance win, does mean that he warrants respect. He’s lightly raced and can be forgiven for not showing up in top gear on his reappearances.

POGO
Bounding back into action is POGO who appears to be knocking on the door of a score. He has been in good form since his reappearance and took third in a Royal Ascot handicap in a field of 23 last time out.
That recent run and form puts him in focus. That’s two runs since coming back from a 231 day break and two place finishes. He warrants respect for what he did from 25/1 in the Hunt Cup at Ascot.

URBAN ICON
Probably one to take a second consideration of is URBAN ICON. He scored on his reappearance which was in march at Wolverhampton. In listed company last time out at Haydock, he was near the back of the pack.
That was a 7f trip three weeks ago that he undertook. He was three and a half lengths back from the winner Space Blues in that one. There should be place claims at least from him.
ACCIDENTAL AGENT
Another that is going to pull in some action is ACCIDENTAL AGENT who was last seen in the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot recently. He was fifth in a field of fifteen in that one, which gives him claims here.
He did lack a winning touch last season, and was more consistent than a genuine threat most of the time. But he’s still one to keep on side in this smaller field.
The rest of the runners
FOXTROT LADY hasn’t really shown anything in her career that suggests that she is going to sweep this field at all. She was fifth of 9 last time out in Listed company at Newbury two weeks ago.
CARDSHARP has churned out some really poor form in his last two efforts. His last run was at Ascot which was just too much for him to handle after some busy work.
Rounding out the preview is HISTORY WRITER who came good at the end of his autumn campaign. His reappearance came at Newbury a couple of weeks ago at the Diomed Stakes when he was a long way back in fifth.
Predictions & Tips
So this is a good field. STORMY ANTARCTIC certainly has appeal after getting some action recently at Newbury. That was such an encouraging effort.
But we like the look of DAVYDENKO at 9/2 who can be forgiven for a lacklustre reappearance* (betting odds taken from Coral at 22:22 GMT on Saturday June 27th 2020).
He is likely to be in sharper nick for this one and should be a major player in the field.
The other we can’t dismiss is POGO on the back of a very good effort at the Hunt Cup. He is shaping up very well at the moment and could go close.
