Chacun Pour Soi will take some stopping in the Queen Mother Champion Chase

Horse Racing Betting

This is the highlight of Wednesday’s action at the Cheltenham Festival 2021, as the Queen Mother Champion Chase betting comes into the picture.

This is the big Grade 1 Championship race which is open to five-year-olds and above and is run over a 2m distance.

There is no bigger race on the calendar year for the 2-milers than this one.

There are 10 declared runners for Queen Mother Champion Chase betting and it is CHACUN POUR SOI who is the big odds-on favourite.

Last year’s winner was 9-year-old POLITOLOGUE who got the score form a 6/1 SP (Harry Skelton / P F Nicholls)

Chacun Pour Soit the red hot favourite for Queen Mother Champion Chase Betting Odds

CHACUN POUR SOI looks to be the one to beat in the Queen Mother Champion Chase at the 2021 Cheltenham Festival.

There is 4/5 odds-on quote on him landing the win in this one* (betting odds recorded at 22:45 GMT on March 16th, 2021 at 888sport).

He is one of Willie Mullins’ top-class chasers and has powered his way to three wins from three this season.

Last month he was on show at Leopardstown and Chacun Pour Soi delivered an impressive win in the Dublin Chase.

That was a victory returned by eight lengths at a canter in the Grade 1 effort. Chacun Pour Soi will likely take some beating in this one.

He was due to run this 12 months ago but had to pull out on the morning of the race because of a football problem.

Chacun Pour Soi has dominated the division since.

Can Politologue defend his crown?

This is going to be a big ask for POLITOLOGUE to come out and win the Queen Mother again.

Last year he was the big benefactor of Chacun Pour Soi’s late withdrawal.

It’s much tougher this time around in a stronger field as well. But there have been signs of form for the Paul Nicholls 10-year-old.

Politologue claimed the Tingle Creek on his reappearance and then followed that up with a good run at Ascot.

That latest effort wasn’t the Clarence House in which he took second place.

Connections will have fond memories of this from 12 months ago when Politologue made all.

How will be able to handle himself against a strong field back at Cheltenham? Regardless, place claims are not unreasonable.

Politologue is an 11/1 quote to defend * (betting odds recorded at 22:45 GMT on March 16th, 2021 at 888sport).

First Flow the big threat to the favourite?

For those looking to take on the favourite in this race, FIRST FLOW will take some fancy. He is another of the top class chasers in this field.

It’s been six straight victories for him, three this season. The most recent of those was at the Clarence House at Ascot.

First Flow had the beating of Politologue by seven lengths in that contest. This is a tougher race without question.

But First Flow at a 14/1 each-way punt in Queen Mother Champion Chase betting doesn’t look too unreasonable* (betting odds recorded at 22:45 GMT on March 16th, 2021 at 888sport).

He’s thriving right now.

Last Queen Mother Champion Chase Winners (age, trainer, jockey)

  • 2020 Politologue, 9, Paul Nicholls, Harry Skelton
  • 2019 Altior, 8, Nicky Henderson, Nico de Boinville
  • 2018 Altior, 8, Nicky Henderson, Nico de Boinville
  • 2017 Special Tiara, 101, Henry de Bromhead, Noel Fehily
  • 2016 Sprinter Sacre, 10, Nicky Henderson, Nico De Boinville
  • 2015 Dodging Bullets, 71, Paul Nicholls, Sam Twiston-Davies
  • 2014 Sire De Gurgy, 8, Gary Moore, Jamie Moore
  • 2013 Sprinter Sacre, 7, Nick Henderson, Barry Geraghty
  • 2012 Finian’s Rainbow, 9, Nicky Hendsroent, Barry Geraghty
  • 2011 Sizing Europe, 9, Henry de Bromhead, Andrew Lynch

Nube Negra has serious claims

With no ALTIOR around, we are going to NUBE NEGRA next as one of the big players in the contest.

On his reappearance, he landed the Desert Orchid Chase at Kempton in December.

That was by three and a half lengths over Altior, who to be fair, wasn’t at his best on the day. Regardless, the run showed Nube Negra in a very good light.

There will be more improvement needed from Dave Skelton’s seven year old, but that is the case for a lot of the players in this Queen Mother field for Cheltenham 2021.

Bune Begra looks like a high-class chaser and easily belongs in this company.

He has been kept fresh for this contest as well since that Kempton score and he comes in at 17/2* (betting odds recorded at 22:45 GMT on March 16th, 2021 at 888sport).

Put The Kettle On to enjoy another Cheltenham return?

PUT THE KETTLE ON always seems to thrive at Cheltenham and we would expect another strong run from her.

She is undefeated in three course and distance efforts in her career, so she can’t be counted out of this.

The latest of those C&D wins was on her reappearance in the Shloer Chase.

Put the Kettle On followed that up with a third-place to Chacun Pour Soi in a Leopardstown Grade 1 at Christmas.

It’s hard to ignore her Cheltenham form and is a solid performer for Henry de Bromhead.

She definitely poses a threat from 17/2* (betting odds recorded at 22:45 GMT on March 16th, 2021 at 888sport).

Rest Of The Runners

CILAOS EMERY landed a Grade 3 at Naas last month. He is a stablemate to Chacun Pour Soi and it’s hard to see him getting anywhere near his buddy.

He’s not without place claims but certainly has something to find in terms of winning.

GREANETEEN is a keen one and on his reappearance, he claimed the Haldon Gold Cup at Exeter this season.

Place finishes in the Tingle Creek and Game Spirit raises the interest in him. The stronger the pace is in this one, the more Greatenteen could show.

NOTEBOOK was third in the Grade 1 Dublin Chase behind inner Chacun Pour Soi last time out.

That was a continuation of some pretty handy form from him in this campaign. He opened the season with a wide-margin win at Naas.

ROUGE VIF looks a little out of his depth in the one. He was well behind Nube Negra in the Desert ORchase Chase at Kempton on his latest run.

Rogue Vif scored over course and distance in October before a third at the Tingle Creek. He probably has a little too much to find.

SCEAU ROYAL won the Game Spirit at Newbury on his latest run, beating CHAMP by a couple of lengths in that one.

But he has misfired pretty badly on the last two editions of the Queen Mother Champion Chase and he’s hard to get to because of that.

Predictions & Tips for Queen Mother Champion Chase Racing Odds

Is anyone going to have the beating of CHACUN POUR SOI in the Queen Mother Champion Chase betting?

It’s really unlikely as far as we can see, so the 4/5 odds-on favourite has to get the nod* (betting odds recorded at 22:45 GMT on March 16th, 2021 at 888sport).

In the w/o Chacun Pour Soi market, we are going to look to PUT THE KETTLE ON. She is just as consistent as it gets around Cheltenham and could easily fill the runners up spot behind the favourite.

The other that we would consider in this market would be NUBE NEGRA who looks to have a lot to bring to the table.

He’s fresh and targeted for this race at a 10/3 quote for second* (betting odds recorded at 22:45 GMT on March 16th, 2021 at 888sport).
