Paisley Park’s time to shine

After a heart issue at last year’s Stayers’ Hurdle, PAISLEY PARK is back fit and the 2/1 favourite in Stayers’ Hurdle betting* (betting odds record at 21:56 GMT on March 17th, 2021 at Paddy Power).

He is arguably the best in the business. Paisley Park was the favourite ahead of last year’s edition of this race.

But he finished down in seventh because of his health problem on the day.

Form is there with Paisley Park having won this in 2019 and he’s not likely to be far away from getting back in the winners circle either.

Paisley Park opened the new campaign with a good second place to Thyme Hill at Newbury in the Long Distance Hurdle (Grade 2).

He then got up late to turn the tables on that rival in December in the Long Walk Hurdle (Grade 1) at Ascot.

Paisley Park has usually had a January run in the Cleeve Hurdle before launching himself into the Cheltenham Festival.

That hasn’t happened this year, but it is still so hard to dismiss the chances of this brilliant chaser.

Paisley Park is the one to beat, as he still comes into this as the leading staying hurdler around at the moment.

Can Lisnagar Oscar defend his crown?

Even though last year’s favourite Paisley Park was out of the picture, LINSAGER OSCAR still put together a good run to claim this twelve months ago.

He is out at 11/1 in Stayers’ Hurdle betting odds* (betting odds record at 21:56 GMT on March 17th, 2021 at Paddy Power).

But he is certainly not a forlorn hope. Far from it.

He looked like he was beginning to peak with seasonal form when taking second in Rendlesham at Haydock last time out.

That was just under a month ago, so he should arrive in very good shape. This will be his second go since wind surgery.

It is on paper, still a very tough assignment, that Ryanair double, but he should have a chance on current form.

Can Sire Du Berlais improve on strong Festival record?

Nine year old SIRE DU BERLAIS will have plenty of appeal at 9/2 for those punters looking to take on the favourite* (betting odds record at 21:56 GMT on March 17th, 2021 at Paddy Power).

He was beaten over Christmas by Flooring Porter at Leopardstown, but he arrives with a strong course form behind him.

Sire Du Berlais picked up the Pertemps Final again last season at the Festival and he has arrived back bang in form for this campaign as well.

He won a third in that Christmas Hurdle at Leopardstown against Flooring Porter in December on a 3m trip.

Before that Sire Du Berlais had kicked off the season with a win, achieving that in a Grade 2 at Navas in early November.

It’s been two wins and a place finish for Sire Du Berlais at the Cheltenham Festival and many will have him pegged as the biggest threat to Paisley Park.

Does Flooring Porter have more about him?

There was a win at the highest level for FLOORING PORTER in the Christmas Hurdle, ahead of Sire Du Berlais.

That was a very good accomplishment and it actually completed a double for him in current form.

So the six year old is on the up.

An emphatic win it was as well in that Christmas Hurdle as Flooring Porter boldly got to the front and ran the race from there.

It’s been an 80 day break for Flooring Porter since then.

He has Ryan Moore booked for the ride and Flooring Porter goes as a 12/1 option in Stayers Hurdle betting* (betting odds record at 21:56 GMT on March 17th, 2021 at Paddy Power).

The Storyteller can write a good finish

THE STORYTELLER is a very consistent runner. He was always a smart hurdler and he has taken to the fences very well. He’s making an impact in this sphere.

There was an eye-catching run from The Storyteller on his latest, finding only one too good for him on the day at the Irish Gold Cup.

If he can tap into that kind of form on what is his debut for a new yard, he may well have some strong place claims on Thursday.

The Storyteller is at 15/2 in the Stayers’ Hurdle betting* (betting odds record at 21:56 GMT on March 17th, 2021 at Paddy Power).

Others to note

FURY ROAD is not without a chance at a place finish in this contest. He’s a likeable one and was third here in the Albert Barlett last year. He found only Beacon Edge too good for him in a Hurdle at Navan recently.

BEACON EDGE picked up his third win of the season with a win in the Boyne Hurdle, beating Fury Road into second place. He looks like he will be suited by a longer trip and isn’t totally without hope in this contest.

IF THE CAP FITS needs a little bit more can’t be counted out of place claims. He easily scored on his chase debut at Ffos Las at the start of the season. His jumping hasn’t been top level since, but is good over the timbers.

Predictions & Tips for Stayers’ Hurdle Betting Odds

2019 winner PAISLEY PARK has all the goods to make it another successful afternoon at the Cheltenham Festival.

He probably would have been sitting on a hattrick chance in the Stayers’ Hurdle had he not ran into that health issue last year.

There’s no better stayer around than him at the moment and the sensible head says stay with the 2/1 favourite* (betting odds record at 21:56 GMT on March 17th, 2021 at Paddy Power).

We don’t think LISNAGAR OSCAR is worth passing over at each way 12/1 odds* (betting odds record at 21:56 GMT on March 17th, 2021 at Paddy Power).

He was pretty keen in a runner in the Rendlesham a month ago and looks competitive.

After an eye-catching run at the Irish Gold Cup, we are going with THE STORYTELLER to fill out one of the places in this one.

There is likely a lot more to come from the 15/2 shot* (betting odds record at 21:56 GMT on March 17th, 2021 at Paddy Power).
