Mubtasimah the 9/2 FAV for the Sceptre Fillies’ Stakes

MUBTASIMAH scored on her return to action when she struck at Newbury in a Listed fixture.

That was an excellent run from her and she was expected to follow up on her next effort which was at Chelmsford.

That was a very similar race, but Mubtasimah got away slowly and couldn’t make it back up to claim only fourth for Willie Haggas.

But that career best at Newbury can’t be ignored at all, and it wouldn’t take much for her to bounce back as the 9/2 favourite* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:00 GMT on Tuesday, 8th September)

BOUNCE THE BLUES
11/1

Bounce The Blues

Another recent Listed winner is BOUNCE THE BLUES who looks in top shape at the moment.

That win happened just over two weeks ago in Ireland. She goes for the first time for new trainer Andrew Balding so she is in good hands.

That win at Naas really showed how progressive the filly is and she will be making just her fifth racetrack appearance having scored in two of her first four.

She is as exciting as it gets and is on the up and in hot form at the moment and is therefore worth a look at 11/1* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:00 GMT on Tuesday, 8th September).

Althiqa could launch a challenge

Charlie Appleby’s ALTHIQA could be a player in this field as well. She won her debut and only ran as a 2 year old and has come on leaps and bounds this season.

Althiqa won on her reappearance and went further with another win at Deauville in July.

That last win was in a Listed race and she has handled herself very well against some excellent company over her last couple of races.

She has to be a player in this big wide open contest from a 9/2 quote* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:00 GMT on Tuesday, 8th September).

Jubiloso warrants respect

Sir Michael Stoute’s contender in the field is JUBILOSO who had a reappearance to forget. But it is the form that she produced last season that will pique interest for punters.

Her big notable effort was getting in the places at the Coronation Stakes. That happened on just her third racetrack appearance.

There will be question marks over her poor effort on renewal, but if that can be expected, then she is likely to be one of those in the mix on the day at 5/1* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:00 GMT on Tuesday, 8th September).

Cloak Of Spirits could produce a bold run

CLOAK OF SPIRITS is likely to be happy coming back to a 7f trip for this effort. Her form has actually been really consistent since her appearance and she has been in the places in her last couple of efforts.

She was also second on her first run this season when she showed up in the 1000 Guineas and took the runner up spot behind Love at Newmarket.

She is not to be dismissed at all based on her current form and is up there as a 5/1 quote* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:00 GMT on Tuesday, 8th September).

Others to note

INVITATIONAL could be a player on her day. She has shown that before and she scored on her appearance this season in a 7f trip at Wolverhampton in January. Based on her last couple of efforts on the turf, she may need to find something like a career best.

LYZBETH is another that will probably need a little bit more on her game. She did take an excellent win at Goodwood in a Listed fixture on her return. She really benefited from a drop back to 6f there. Lyzbeth was last seen in the Summer Stakes and ran well there to take sixth.

STORMY GIRL won on her last run, which is a Listed race at Pontefract. She took control of the race from the front in that one to get the score. She is coming up in grade and this will be tough conditions in which to repeat.

GYPSY WHISPER has taken back to back wins so the form is there to potentially see her push for a money finish. Those wins happened in easier races than this one is, but she is on an upward curve at the moment and gets the cheekpieces back on.

Predictions & Tips for Sceptre Fillies’ Stakes Racing Odds

This is a great feature of the opening day of the St Leger Festival at Doncaster and a race we are looking forward to.

There are some really good claims in this one. To start with we can’t ignore the direction in which BOUNCE THE BLUES is heading.

She looks a brilliant one and has to warrant some respect from an 11/1 mark* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:00 GMT on Tuesday, 8th September).

We also fancy the chances of ALTHIQA at 11/2 after a good Listed score at Deauville triggered a run of place finishes in better company than she faced there* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:00 GMT on Tuesday, 8th September).

The drop back to 7f we feel is going to hugely benefit CLOAK OF SPIRITS so she is our final name for Sceptre Fillies’ Stakes consideration.

She has been consistent and can’t find enough reason not to have her on the shortlist following her second in the 1000 Guineas.
