Fancy Blue 9/4 in Goodwood Nassau Stakes Odds

FANCY BLUE has seen plenty of interest in early support for success at the Nassau Stakes at Goodwood on Thursday.

She is the current 9/4 favourite for the contest* (betting odds taken from Coral at 20:52 GMT on Wednesday 29th July 2020).

That could have something to do with Ryan Moore taking the ride instead of rejoining last year’s winner Deirdre.

Fancy Blue looks a very good filly having scored on her two runs as a two year old. She returned to action with a second place finish at the Irish 1,000 Guineas at the Curragh.

Following that she went to Chantilly and scored in the Group 1 Prix De Diane in early July, getting the win by a short head over Alpine Star.

She has switched back to Donnacha O’Brien and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see her drive even more progress home.

Nazeef to defend unbeaten record?

The last time that NAZEEF was in action she was landing a score at the Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket. She is such an impressive filly and she got that Newmarket win in a gutsy manner by a neck.

The 10f trip here should be in her wheelhouse and that is six wins from six racetrack appearances for the John Gosden-trained filly.

Magic Wand to cast a spell on Goodwood?

MAGIC WAND scored a fourth behind Ghaiyyath at the Sandown Eclipse in her last run. She showed an unusual touch of patience during that run in which she shaped well.

The mare will have Frankie Dettori taking the ride and after staying really well for the Eclipse, she will be a threat in this one. She did have Deirdre, who won last year’s Nassau Stakes, behind her at Sandown.

Deirdre to defend?

DEIRDRE upset the field last year to claim the 2019 Nassau Stakes. Will the Japanese horse have enough to defend her title at Glorious Goodwood?

On her return to action after a 127 day break, she showed up at Sandown in a 10f trip for the Group 1 Eclipse. She claimed a fifth place finish there.

Last year’s win at Goodwood remains her only career win. Will that recent Eclipse effort have sharpened her up?

LAVENDER BLUE was in the Duke of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot when she was seventh behind winner Nazeef. She is a smart filly with a couple of successes last season. This may just be out of her depth however.

One Voice to raise the volume?

There may be some place claims coming from ONE VOICE in the Nassau Stakes racing odds. She has shown plenty of forward progress this year and fought for a fifth place finish at the Curragh on her last trip. It was a poor run that she had. But she has scored at distance before.

Queen Power to find the going tough?

It has been solid form from QUEEN POWER on her return to action. She was second on reappearance after the winter break, but then did put together a very nice run to claim third behind winner Nazeef at the Duke of Cambridge Stakes.

For us the first pick has to be FANCY BLUE. The winning performance at the Prix de Diane was impressive as she battled on there and has shown better and better each time we have seen her. So she brings massive claims.

MAGIC WAND should be more convincing in this effort as she goes back against her own sex. She is a very smart mare and should handle the trip very well.

Then it is to NAZEEF to fill out the places. She has her unbeaten record on the line, but this is a really stiff contest. We wouldn’t have any qualms over her at 10f.
