Battash is the 4/9 FAV for York Nunthorpe Stakes odds

The brilliant BATTAASH looks to be the one that sets the standard for this Group 1 race.

He won last year’s edition of this race and is the red hot 4/9 FAV for this year’s renewal as well* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:02 GMT on Thursday, 20th August 2020).

It has been back to back wins for him since his reappearance. The 6 year old has not lost any of his fantastic edge and look what he has accomplished this season.

It was wins in the King’s Stand at Royal Ascot and then at Glorious Goodwood in the King George where he broke the track record. There is no way to argue with that kind of form. He’s likely going to be too hot to beat.

A’Ali to finish second

Art Power looks for a five-timer

ART POWER has some big claims in this for a place finish. He ended last season on a win and then he has delivered one in each of his three runs since his reappearance.

He has stacks of sprinting ability and he is the 11/4 second-favourite* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:02 GMT on Thursday, 20th August 2020).

Art Power is a course and distance winner and he was last seen in Group 3 company last time out when he breezed to a win at Naas. If there is one capable of beating Battaash, it is Art Power.

A’Ali can make a run at the places

As a juvenile, A’ALI collected three wins during his juvenile career so he brings some claims to the table in this one. He has scored in his last two runs as well.

He has been stepping it up with a Group 3 win at Sandown and then a Group 2 success at Curragh.

So A’Ali is heading in the right direction easily but he is still going to need to find more in such a strong field from 11/4* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:02 GMT on Thursday, 20th August 2020).

Can Moss Gill make some place claims?

MOSS GILL has won two of his last three runs and he is a previous course and distance winner as well.

Moss Gill goes as a 40/1 outsider for this contest* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:02 GMT on Thursday, 20th August 2020).

He has actually won on both his previous course and distance efforts, so that is some big claims. The question mark comes over his step up in class for this one. But he is an interesting figure in this one as an each-way quote.

Place hopes for Emaraaty Ana

Getting the cheek pieces on for the first time is EMARAATY ANA who is a 50/1 option* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:02 GMT on Thursday, 20th August 2020).

He won the Gimcrack as a juvenile but he struggled to really follow up on that kind of form since.

But there have been recent signs that he’s not far away from his best with a back to back third-place finish in the Abernant and then at Chester.

Rest of the Runners

ORNATE has a good turn of foot, but looks as if he could be outclassed for this fixture. He was last seen at the King George Stakes at Goodwood where he was two and a half lengths back of winner Battaash.

KURIOUS had a good summer twelve months ago, winning in a Listed race and a Group 3. He made his reappearance at the King George Stakes when he was seventh after a fairly decent run on return.

QUE AMORO has won three of her last five racetrack appearances. Twelve months ago she won back to back fixtures at York before improving even further to claim a second at Ayr in the Scottish Fillies’ Sprint Stakes (Listed).

Predictions & Tips for York Nunthorpe Stakes Odds

Can one look past BATTAASH for this fixture? Absolutely not, he is still bang in form and still right on top of his game. He is just such an outstanding runner and with wins at Royal Ascot and Glorious Goodwood he cannot be opposed.

ART POWER looks to have enough to at least give the favourite some hard work for the fixture. He is running very well at the moment and with course and distance behind him, he should be in the top three.

The other will have to be A’ALI who is really on the right road at the moment, so we expect him to make a run at the money spots as well.
