Last Empire the 2/1 favourite in Scottish Spring Fillies’ Stakes

LAST EMPIRE is a solid favourite for this trip at 2/1* (betting odds taken from Betway at 23:56 GMT on Thursday, 17th September). She warrants some respect here after rattling the crossbar at Beverley last time out.

She took second place in that Listed contest at 5f three weeks ago. She was doing all the running at the end of the race, closing in on winner Dakota Gold but couldn’t quite get there.

It was an excellent run though in the Beverley Bullet and she should be up to the sprint challenge here. Her chances have been raised with Back To Brussels being declared a non-runner.

Maygold worth a loko for Ayr trip

It has been just one run this season for MAYGOLD. She made her reappearance at Sandown just under three weeks ago. In that 5f trip she took third of five under handicap terms. That was little more than a workout to get wind in her pipes. She’s a decent performer in Listed company and is one to watch in the field from 10/1* (betting odds taken from Betway at 23:56 GMT on Thursday, 17th September).

Exceptional worth keeping on side

EXCEPTIONAL scored a win on her appearance this season, that happening at Pontefract back in June. She has been nice and consistent here and is reliable enough to warrant some serious place claims on Friday.

Her last run was 35 days ago when she was fourth to Stormy Girl in a Pontefract Listed race.

Exceptional was a little below her best there, but could come back sharper and carries appeal from 6/1* (betting odds taken from Betway at 23:56 GMT on Thursday, 17th September).

Magical Journey to make it happen at Ayr?

There does appear to be plenty of improvement to come from the lightly raced MAGICAL JOURNEY.

She actually looks a very useful filly and was third (ahead of Exceptional) at Pontefract recently, just a couple of length snack of winner Stormy Girl.

There is plenty to like about her and she warrants respect from 13/2 in this field* (betting odds taken from Betway at 23:56 GMT on Thursday, 17th September).

Others to note

DANDY’S BEANO is a former course and distance winner and she will see a return of the hood for this one.

She followed an excellent second at Haydock in early August with a poor effort at York a couple of weeks later.

QUEEN’S GIFT has not scored for a while, but she is a useful mare, just like Dandy’s Beano.

She was last seen in a Listed race at Beverley three weeks ago and was sixth of nine in that one. Place claims are not unreasonable from her when she’s at her best.

ELECTRIC LADY has moved on to a new yard. The last race she had was at York a month ago when she finished at the back of the pack.

She was in decent enough improving form before that and could receive a boost from a good stable.

The last horse that we are looking at is AMERICAN LADY. She was last seen at the Sapphire Stakes at the Curragh a couple of months ago.

She was fifth there and it continued a fairly consistent season from her.

Predictions & Tips for Scottish Sprint Fillies’ Stakes Racing Odds

We have to go straight to the top for LAST EMPIRE in this one, especially with Back To Brussels no longer in the race.

But on merit, Last Empire was good in her runner up spot to Dakota Gold in the Beverley Bullet and therefore warrants some big respect.

We also like how MAGICAL JOURNEY is shaping up at the moment and she’s definitely heading in the right direction.

She is verstalite enough to handle whatever ground ends up in play on Friday and her third place, the best of those held up in a listed race last time out, sees her bring claims.

The final pick will be EXCEPTIONAL who just can’t be written off. She was a beaten favourite last time out. She wasn’t quite on top form last time out, but good enough to be a player in this field at this level.
