There are 11 declared runners for this year’s renewal and it looks to be a strong, competitive renewal as well.

Heading up the market is AL SUHAIL. We will look at his chances as well as sizing up the other key players in this Hungerford Stakes Racing odds preview.

Al Suhail 5/2 FAV in Hungerford Stakes Racing Odds

It was a third-place finish in the Group 2 Summer Mile on his latest run that puts AL SUHAIL in the frame for Saturday.

Charlie Appleby’s 4-year-old is the current 5/2 FAV in Hungerford Stakes Racing Odds* (odds recorded at 23:47 GMT on 12th August 2021 at Coral).

The conditions and trip do suit him for this follow-up, which comes 35 days after the run at Ascot. The drop in trip could be key here.

The 2000 Guineas last year was just too much for him and a longer 1m 1f trip in Dubai in March saw him come up short as well.

There is a chance that he will get himself in the mix in this contest.

DANYAH
9/2

Coral

Danyah could be the one to watch

There is also certainly a big chance in the Hungerford Stakes for DANYAH on Saturday at Newbury.

This race should be right in his wheelhouse and he brings winning form to the table.

There is a current quote of 9/2 on Danyah to win in the racing odds* (odds recorded at 23:47 GMT on 12th August 2021 at Coral).

He scored at Ascot as the 9/2 FAV on a 7f trip last month on good to firm ground. He has to work hard for it.

Danyah got over the line by a short head against Star Of Orien. But that was still an impressive performance, despite the narrow margin.

It also saw him continue in very good form this season. There could be more to come from Danyah.

Can Motakhayyel bounce back?

If MOTAKHAYYEL does what he is capable of, then he should have a pretty decent chance in this on Saturday.

He needs a big bounce-back performance, however. Richard Hannon’s 5-year-old was last seen at Ascot three weeks ago.

There was a disappointing performance from him in that one, finishing down in sixth behind winner Danyah.

That was a performance well below what he is capable of. On his penultimate run, however, he produced a cracker in the Bunbury Cup to take a win.

Which Motakhayyel turns up at Newbury on Saturday? That will now be the question as that’s two misfires in five runs this season now.

Will Sacred enjoy the step up in trip?

SACRED returns from a long break, having not had a run since May. That latest run was in the 1000 Guineas Stakes.

She was 7th behind Mother Earth in that one, but this may be a little bit of an easier assignment for her.

From a quote of 7/1 she definitely rates a threat in Hungerford Stakes racing odds* (odds recorded at 23:47 GMT on 12th August 2021 at Coral).

Sacred opened the season with a victory, landing the score at Newmarket on a 7f trip in April. That was in the Nell Gwyn and came after a long break, so she has performed refreshed.

She is capable and on the return to the 7f trip, that could easily play into her hands and therefore she’s worth keeping on the shortlist.

D’Bai warrants some respect

There has been notable form from D’BAI recently who picked up a win on his latest effort.

That was 177 days ago when he picked up the win at Meydan in February. That was on a slightly longer trip and he held on to get the score by a head.

But that was a Group 2 success under his belt and he has continued on in good form. D’Bai has now been in the frame in each of his last four runs.

The break raises a little question and he is at a current quote of 11/1 in Hungerford Stakes racing odds* (odds recorded at 23:47 GMT on 12th August 2021 at Coral).

The Rest Of The Runners

NJORD was well down the field at Galway on his latest run. He was heavily beaten there and there’s little in his form this season to suggest that he has this in him.

DREAMLOPER carries some reasonable place claims. She won the Group 3 Valiant Stakes on a 1m trip at Ascot last month.

That was a comfortable success taken by more than four lengths. If she can produce a repeat performance then Dreamloper could make her presence felt.

3-year-old LANEQASH is unexposed and hasn’t been seen yet since a run as a juvenile over course and distance in October.

That was in heavy conditions though and he was heavily beaten as the favourite.

LINE OF DEPARTURE opened the season in good style taking a win. This is a drop in grade for him after being sent to the Group 1 July Cup Stakes at Newmarket last month for a 6f trip.

Line Of Departure was well down the field in that one. The trip and pace could be testing for him.

NANDO PARRADO trailed home last in the Group 3 Jersey Stakes at Ascot on his last, which was in June. He gets the blinkers on for the first time, but others are far more appealing.

TACTICAL was 5th in a Goodwood Group 3 last month on a 1m trip. He was 8 lengths back of the winner in that one. The conditions suit him, but he has a lot to find.

Predictions & Tips for Hungerford Stakes Racing Racing Odds

DANYAH is our horse racing tip for the Hungerford Stakes racing odds at 9/2* (odds recorded at 23:47 GMT on 12th August 2021 at Coral).

He takes slight preference here after a narrow win at Ascot last month. There was a great attitude from him and he should be right in this.

The step up to a 1m trip for AL SUHAIL is wonderfully intriguing. He has big potential in him after staying on well for that third in the Summer Mile on his latest run. He looks like a big, big player.

The other for the shortlist is going to be SACRED. She goes well refreshed and while things didn’t pan out in the 1000 Guineas, she should be better for the experience.
