Enemy can hold off a competitive field in Cobham Handicap

Horse Racing Betting

Sandown Cobham Handicap odds takes a feature look at Race 6 from Friday’s card at the track.

This is a small field for a Class 3 handicap, with only the six declared to run, but Nova Roma has already withdrawn to leave the five runners.

This is a 1m 2f trip for those in the Cohman Handicap.

Horse Racing Betting at Coral

Enemy the 3/2 FAV for Sandown Cobham Handicap Odds

With a small field we can take a good look at the runners.

Heading the market is current 3/2 shot ENEMY who has top jockey Oisin Murphy booked* (betting odds taken from Coral at 23:12 GMT on Thursday, 6th August 2020).

Last time out Enemy suffered a loss over course and distance but with just by a short head. He is up 2lb in the ratings now, but looks a good fit for this competitive handicap.

A bold run under Murphy and he should get close to the score on Friday.

But on all three of his efforts during this campaign, Enemy has shaped really well and looks on track for much bigger things.

He scored on his debut last year at Ascot on his only run as a 2-year-old. He easily has some leading claims in this one.

STAR OF WINS
2/1

Coral

Star Of Wins could challenge

Also heading in the right direction is STAR OF WINS who is a 2/1 option for this fixture* (betting odds taken from Coral at 23:12 GMT on Thursday, 6th August 2020).

He has just gotten better and better with his form, culminating in a win last time out. That score for the colt happened at 10f at Windsor last month in a maiden race.

There should be more that is dragged out of him under handicapping now.

He has been extremely well treated by the assessor in this one as well because Star Of Wins is at 82, more than a fair mark, which suggests that he is being underrated a little bit.

He is one to keep on the shortlist.

Louganini seeks third career win

Of the horses in this field, the one with the most winning experience is LOUGANINI who has scored twice.

He is a current 11/4 option in Sandown Cobham Handicap odds* (betting odds taken from Coral at 23:12 GMT on Thursday, 6th August 2020).

One of those wins was on his debut as a 2 year old, his only run at that age. He returned to action with a fourth place and then pounded out a win at Haydock over 10f last time out.

That was in early July and it was his big effort at the close which got him the win, edging out tiring opposition. He should have even more to offer and has to be respected in this field.

Kingbrook with plenty to find on return?

KINGBROOK is with a new yard now as he comes into action as a 3 year old for the first time. His last run was in September last year when he took a decent third at Doncaster.

He did manage to get a score on the board last season as he won an Ascot maiden in July.

It’s been 328 days since he was last seen and while improvement is expected, he’s up against fit contenders in this one.

Native Tribe can step forward

In June NATIVE TRIBE made his return to action as a 3 year old. It was not a great return and he looked nowhere near top fitness.

Native Tribe finished well down the field in that 10f effort at Newmarket.

But he made a promising start as a juvenile prior to that, including winning a maiden effort a year ago at the 1m distance.

Despite his heavy loss last time out, he may have something to offer with having had that experience.

Predictions & Tips for Sandown Cobham Handicap Racing Odds

So there it is then, a small field for Sandown Cobham Handicap odds. The pick of the bunch, but only just, for us is ENEMY.

He rattled the crossbar over course and distance last time out when he couldn’t quite find any extra turn of speed at the end.

But a bolder run could compensate for that.

We would also expect the improving STAR OF WINS to make a decent showing in this race.

His recent score will have pleased connections and he hasn’t been treated harshly for it and a handicapping favour could get him close.
