Nahaar the 9/2 FAV in Goodwood Stewards’ Cup Odds

Some impressive recent form from NAHAAR sends him to the Stewards’ Cup as the current 9/2 favourite* (betting odds taken from Betway at 06:04 GMT on Friday 31st July 2020). The sprinter potential is easily there for him.

He scored an easy 6f trip in a Newbury handicap a couple of weeks ago. Nahaar does come up 7lb but that was an impressively easy win he landed and that gives him huge claims for this contest.

He should be a great fit for this contest as he comes in sharp.

Meraas a serious contender

Also developing into a very good sprinter is MERAAS who cannot be overlooked for this Goodwood trip.

A couple of weeks ago at Hamilton he scored the Scottish Stewards’ Cup handicap.

For that he takes on an extra 6lb but that is three wins in his last four trips now.

So there are tremendous claims for him and Mark Johnston’s colt has to be kept on side from 9/1* (betting odds taken from Betway at 06:04 GMT on Friday 31st July 2020).

Lexington Dash should be in the mix

Another one to keep an eye on is LEXINGTON DASH who has looked very good this season under Richard Hannon.

After wind surgery he returned from a 154 day break to score back to back wins at Newmarket (both 6f).

Lexington Dash was last seen at the same course over the distance when she was 4th of 17.

Wedding Date worth a look

4 year old filly WEDDING DATE is an interesting entry into this one as a 33/1 e/w option* (betting odds taken from Betway at 06:04 GMT on Friday 31st July 2020).

In late June she scored back to back second place finishes, the first behind Chairmanoftheboard.

She then put in a recent notable superb performance in an Ascot Heritage Handicap to claim 6th of 18 from an 18/1 quote. Is there more to come from her? Wedding Date won a couple of times in the summer of 2019.

Chairmanoftheboard to make his presence felt?

There is form there to support the bid of CHAIRMANOFTHEBOARD. He has scored in two of his last three trips, the first of those beating Wedding Date into second place at Windsor.

The most recent win came at Newmarket in early July in a 6f handicap. He is up 6lb now and the former course and distance winner warrants some respect in this contest.

Others to note

A big, big field, so let’s push on for some more to note. SWINDLER is capable of putting a bold run together. He did claim a couple of 6f handicaps last season and on his recent run to action was 5th at Newmarket.

SUMMERGHAND gets the cheek pieces for the first time after taking a dip last time out in the Hackwood. That was a disappointing run from him as he was ticking along very nicely, including scoring at Pontefract. He could bounce back.

GULLIVER claims 5lb for jockey Angus Villiers which will help out as he’s near top weight for this contest. Gulliver was in last year’s edition and took a credible sixth place there. A couple of weeks ago he took second in a trip at Curragh. Could be a contender.

SILENT ECHO at 28/1 gets the hood back on as he looks to sharpen up* (betting odds taken from Betway at 06:04 GMT on Friday 31st July 2020). He scored a 6f Newmarket success recently and then showed up very well in the Wokingham to take fifth there. Silent Echo then took on Nahaar and Watan at Newbury and finished behind them in fourth.

We will round off with WATAN who we just mentioned. He won a couple of times as a juvenile at 6f and on his reappearance took a brilliant second behind Nahaar at Newbury. If there is more to come from him after that, then he could find himself in the mix.

Predictions & Tips for Goodwood Stewards’s Cup Odds

What a thriller of a race we could have on our hands here. Let’s skip straight to the top and consider NAHAARR. The leading claims are easily there from him, despite going up 7lb.

But 9/2 in a field of this size isn’t the most appealing. We would be willing to consider the longer price on MERAAS who is just progressing rapidly and has a lot to offer after his Hamilton score.

We also fancy the chances of LEXINGTON DASH getting into the picture here and as our bigger e/w shot that has to be WEDDING DATE.
