Recon Mission the 11/4 favourite for Sandown Hampton Handicap
RECON MISSION is a narrow 11/4 favourite for this race, which looks as if it is going to be superbly competitive* (betting odds taken from Ladbrokes at 19:40 GMT on Sunday, 30th August 2020).
There was a third-place finish for him on his last run. Recon Mission has put in a couple of solid efforts at Newbury and Chester.
He was a big contender for the Glorious Goodwood sprint but got everything possibly wrong at the start.
But that recent Chester run showed what he is capable of. The conditions are likely going to suit him well on a drop back to 5f.
Aljady seeks third win of the season
There has been good stuff as well produced by ALJADY since his reappearance. He has won two of his four. Aljady looks to really be benefiting from his switch to a new yard.
Those successes in his current form happened at Haydock and Windsor over 6f. He was then thrown into the big Stewards’ Cup and put in a bold enough effort there to finish seventh.

Arecibo a key player in the contest too
There has been some steady and consistent form from ARECIBO. On his most recent run, he wasn’t far away in taking a fourth-place finish at York in a handicap. That was 12 days ago.

Can Glamourous Anna Bounce back?
On her last run which was at York on a 5f trip a couple of weeks ago, GLAMOUROUS ANNA looked disinterested.
That was a shot a hattrick after some very good wins at Windsor and Goodwood.

Rest of the runners
TINTO was in the Stewards’ Cup last time out and while he was never in the frame, it wasn’t a bad run from him. He did claim third place last month in a course and distance competitive handicap.
LEODIS DREAM has yet to get going so far this season, despite being with a new yard. It’s been relatively poor efforts from him and in such a hot contest here, others are going to be preferred.
MAYGOLD will be making her reappearance after 289 days off of the track. She did get a score in a couple of handicaps last year, but this is a big ask on return even with Oisin Murphy in the saddle.
DESERT SAFARI could be a bit-part player in the contest, despite a positive start to things last autumn. There was little there on his handicap debut in March.

He is on a good mark and some solid efforts at Newbury and Chester should put him in the frame with conditions to his fancy.
We would be happy to have an e/w look at GLAMOROUS ANNA to show up in the right frame of mind. Hopefully, the problems of attitude on her last run are behind her.
ARECIBO has scored for a while so we’ll just have to pass there and take a look at ALJADY instead to get there as he did put in a good shift at the Stewards’ Cup.
