16:10 Eqtidaar Godolphin Stakes Odds & Tips: William Hill offer 7/4 on Loxley – Friday, 25th September 2020

Laafy the pick for Godolphin Stakes at Newmarket

Horse Racing Betting

This is the big Listed action from Friday’s racecard at Newmarket and it is the Eqtidaar Godolphin Stakes which is over a 1m 4f trip.

It is only a small field to dig through for UK racing action in this one with just the six declared.

Of those, the narrow market leader is Loxley at 7/4* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 20:36 GMT on Thursday, 24th September 2020).

This race is open to 3 year olds plus and Godolphin themselves are pretty heavy-handed in this one with competitors.

Last year’s winner was MOUNTAIN HUNTER at an SP of 11/2 (Oisin Murphy / S bin Suroor).

Eqtidaar Godolphin Stakes Odds

Loxley 7/4
Laafy 3/1
Walton Street 4/1
Aloe Vera 5/1
Volcanic Sky 9/1

Loxley the 7/4 favourite for Eqtidaar Godolphin Stakes Odds

After just being edged out in last year’s renewal of this race, LOXLEY is being well supported to go one better on his return.

He is the current 7/4 market leader* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 20:36 GMT on Thursday, 24th September 2020).

He took his form to a new level on his last trip as he delivered a win on his last trip. That was six months ago at the Dubai City of Gold at Meydan.

The victory came by just a short head but he dug in well to get the score.

Loxley had a really good run at this last year and will be well tuned up for this renewal. He has won five times between 1m 1f to 1m 4f in different types of groups.

LAAFY
7/4

Can Laafy go one better than last year?

It has been two wins from four efforts this season for LAAFY. He has been making some nice steady progressive steps for the campaign.

He opened immediately on his return to action before getting a win on his last trip as well.

That latest one was three weeks ago at Ascot. He handled himself well to deliver a comfortable win in that Ascot handicap.

He will be taking a rise in grade, but he looks a good fit for it.

Laafy has only come up 3lb from that handicap win and trained by Sir Michael Stoute with Ryan Moore in the saddle, so he should be a contender from 3/1* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 20:36 GMT on Thursday, 24th September 2020).

Walton Street is the one to watch

WALTON STREET looks sharp and fresh and he has the potential to be a big player in this field for trainer Charlie Appleby.

He is a smart horse who won a couple of weeks ago at Lingfield. That was in a conditions race and he has proven to be competitive at this level in the past.

That recent win will have pleased his connections no end and he was only beaten by under a length as well on that last run.

He hasn’t won for a while but Walton Street has been runner up in each of his last three efforts and retains plenty of ability.

He is one of three for Godolphin in this race alongside VOLCANIC SKY and LOXLEY and Walton Street is at 4/1 currently* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 20:36 GMT on Thursday, 24th September 2020).

Volcanic Sky to light it up at Newmarket?

Going for last year’s winning trainer Saeed bin Suroor is VOLCANIC SKY at 9/1* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 20:36 GMT on Thursday, 24th September 2020).

He has done well under his handicap terms this year and three races ago scored on the all-weather.

That was on a 2m trip and has since backed up with solid, if not winning form.

The last run that Volcanic Sky had was in the Mallard at Doncaster. He took third place there and while this is a step up in grade, he is one to watch in the market.

Can Aloe Vera stay undefeated?

This is one of the intriguing questions for this year’s renewal. Will ALOE VERA, who is a 5/1 contender, remain unbeaten?* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 20:36 GMT on Thursday, 24th September 2020).

She has been out twice so far in her career as a 3-year-old. She looked good for both of them, and the second of those was in a strong Listed Goodwood contest.

However, Aloe Vera will be ending a 491-day absence as she appears in this one. The trip should be well within her range, but that’s a big time away to try and shrug off.

Golden Pass with plenty to find

The outsider in this contest is GOLDEN PASS at 16/1* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 20:36 GMT on Thursday, 24th September 2020).

She has won her last two efforts, the first of those coming at Beverley. She then followed that up with a score at Windsor.

That second of those runs was 18 days ago, so she is match fit. But still, she is going to have to make up a great deal in this kind of company.

Extending her unbeaten streak for the season looks unlikely at best.

Predictions & Tips for Eqtidaar Godolphin Stakes Racing Odds

This is a good competitive race and the favourite LOXLEY just looks for all the parts to be a great fit for the race. While we expect him to be in contention however, we are going to pass over him as our main selection.

Our pick is going to be LAAFY instead at 7/4* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 20:36 GMT on Thursday, 24th September 2020).

That is because of a good progressive season that he has produced. It was just three weeks ago that he got his win in an Ascot handicap and he strolled to that success which suggests that there is plenty more to come from him.

The other name that piques our interest in the contest is WALTON STREET who has knocked on the door in recent efforts.

He is another that is coming up in grade but one who has proven himself at this level before and he looks as sharp as any right now.
