The Paddy Power Plate Tips looks at a Grade 3 contest, which usually pans out to be a good competitive contest.

The race has been around since the 1950s and it has gone through many name changes because of sponsorship.

It’s commonly known as the Festival Plate.

It is a good solid mid-distance hurdles handicap test for the runners who face a total of 17 hurdles in the fixtures.

Our betting experts look through this big field of 22 runners for Thursday’s Cheltenham Festival betting to collate our Paddy Power Plate Tips.

FAV in Paddy Power Plate Racing Odds

Race favourites have done well recently in Festival Plate betting at the Cheltenham Festival.

This year’s market leader is THE GLANCING QUEEN at 4/1* (odds recorded at 18:28 GMT on March 15th, 2022 at Paddy Power).

The mare has done wonderfully over the fences this season, picking up two wins from two.

The latest of those scores was in a Listed mares’ contest at Warwick back in December.

The hattrick was missed because The Glancing Queen found L’Homme Presse too good when they clashed in the Dipper.

This has to be right within her range.

FUSIL RAFFLES
11/1

Paddy Power Plate Betting Contenders

There is a good case to be made for CELEBRE D’ALLEN in Festival Plate betting at 9/2* (odds recorded at 18:28 GMT on March 15th, 2022 at Paddy Power).

He completed a hattrick on his British chasing debut a month ago. That saw a smooth transition and it followed a couple of handicap scores over the timbers.

Considering Celebre D’Allen been away for two years ahead of this season, he’s bang in shape.

IMPERIAL ALCAZAR is right there with his current form as well. He got off the mark in chasing with a course and distance victory back on Trials day.

The assessor has thrown 8lb extra at him, but that may not be enough to slow him up.

Imperial Alcazar is an 11/2 option* (odds recorded at 18:28 GMT on March 15th, 2022 at Paddy Power)

Other Contenders

GRAND PARADIS moves into his handicapping debut for trainer Gordon Elliott on Thursday.

There has been good consistent form by him this season and was second at Gowran last month.

ADRIMEL can’t be counted out of this either. There was a Grade 2 success earned by him last season.

The addition of the blinkers has sharpened him up further this season and enters the fray with winning form.

FUSIL RAFFLES is another that warrants respect. He was in top shape aerie this season including landing a win in the Charlie Hall and then was fourth at a course and distance effort.

He was below par last time out, but is no forlorn hope from 11/1 in Paddy Power Plate betting* (odds recorded at 18:28 GMT on March 15th, 2022 at Paddy Power).

Paddy Power Plate Trends

The next part of this Paddy Power Plate tips preview is a look at how favourites have got on in the most recent renewals.

There have been three winning favourites in the last four renewals of the Festival Plate, and that has been a turnaround in fortunes.

Before that, there was a sequence of five straight years in which the winner of the race had delivered at least a quote of 12/1.

In total there have been four winning favourites in the last 10 renewals.

Four of the last six renewals have been won by a runner from an Irish yard, and five of the last six winners have been an Irish-bred horse.

Trainer and Jockey Trends

The leading trainer is Nicky Henderson who has won two of the last 20 renewals of the race. It has been a while, however, not having claimed a win since Non So got home first in 2005.

Top trainers Paul Nicholls, Philip Hobbs, Nigel Twiston-Davies, Alan King and Colin Tizzard have all failed to land a winner despite having had more than 10 entries.

Tom Scudamore tops the active jockey chart in Festival Place trends. He has won twice, the most recent being delivered on Ballynagour in 2014.

Paddy Power Plate Tips & Predictions Cheltenham Festival 2022

The first selection in Paddy Power Plate tips is FUSIL RAFFLES at 11/1* (odds recorded at 18:28 GMT on March 15th, 2022 at Paddy Power).

He wasn’t on his game at Doncaster last time out but his Charlie Hill chase score and solid fourth on a handicap debut at course and distance puts him in this.

THE GLANCING QUEEN can’t be overlooked on current form, because she has been impressive over the fences this season.

She’s a 9/2 shortlisted one* (odds recorded at 18:28 GMT on March 15th, 2022 at Paddy Power).

CELEBRE D’ALLEN is another big player who is capable of sweeping his way to success in this contest.

He’s a leading player at 11/2 after having recently rattled off a hattrick of chase wins* (odds recorded at 18:28 GMT on March 15th, 2022 at Paddy Power).
