Jovial looks a top pick for Newbury trip on Friday

Horse Racing Betting

One of the big races of the day from Newbury on Friday is this one, which is Race 6. It is the Dubai Duty Free Cup Stakes, a Listed Class 1 trip.

This is just a blast of 7f on the straight and the race is open to 3 year olds plus. Heading up the market for this year’s renewal is KINROSS.

Last year’s renewal was won by TABARRAK at an 8/11 SP (Jim Crowley / R Hannon) who is a non-runner for this year’s edition.

Horse Racing Betting at William Hill

Kinross the 3/1 favourite in Dubai Duty Free Cup Stakes

KINROSS is a pretty strong favourite for this trip at 3/1* (Betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:21 GMT on Thursday, 17th September 2020).

Based on what has been seen from him so far, the 7f trip is probably where he is going to thrive.

He was at Group 1 level for his first two trips of the new season, failing to get to the places on either of those efforts.

But a drop down to Group 3 saw much better out of him on his last trip. He was fourth over a 1m trip at Haydock in that, so is likely to fit well in this fixture.

JOVIAL
11/2

William Hill

D’Bai a key contender in the field

D’BAI looks to be coming on strongly having been battling in Group 2 and Group 3 efforts respectively in his last two runs.

He was showing some consistent form in this and that hints that he is currently in good nick for this one.

He scored a win at Haydock in July having made the most of a drop in grade before taking on those tougher challenges.

D’bai looks to have some very solid claims here and he is at 11/4 currently* (Betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:21 GMT on Thursday, 17th September 2020).

Symbolize striking a good chord at the moment

A couple of weeks ago SYMBOLIZE was in action at Haydock in a conditions event and put together a tremendous run. It was a second place finish from him there and he looks to be right on top form currently.

It has been a wonderfully consistent season from him so far and rattled the crossbar last time out, losing by just a neck in that Haydock effort.

On his reappearance this season he was a third place finisher in the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Jovial with a chance to get back to form

WIth jockey Ryan Moore taking the ride for the Sir Michael Stoute-trained filly JOVIAL, she could be a player in this field.

On her last appearance, she didn’t make any impression whatsovere, falling a bit flat in a Group 3 trip at York.

But on her reappearance this season she did complete a hattrick (all-weather).

Following that she found herself in Listed company in June on a 7f trip at Haydock and went brilliantly to take a second place finish.

She’s not to be dismissed from 11/2* (Betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:21 GMT on Thursday, 17th September 2020).

The rest of the runners

GLORIOUS JOURNEY scored a win on his reappearance and scored a course and distance win last year as well in the Group 2 Hungerford. He could only manage a fifth place finish on his defence of that recently, a little bit of a dispapotinign run. On his day he can threaten.

JASH hasn’t really posed himlsef as a threat so far in his two runs this season. He was away for well over a year before reappearing in August and despite wind surgery, doesn’t look to be the kind of horse that he promised to be as a juvenile.

WATAN has scored a couple of places from three runs this year. He looks like a pretty smart colt and he is coming back up on trip now. He took a second place effort at Newbury in July under handicap conditions but may struggle against some quality opposition here.

ROYAL COMMANDO has gone just a little bit quiet following a fourth at the Commonwealth Cup. He was in a Listed fixture for his last run and finished down the field in 7th at Deauville. It’s questionable as to whether he’ll have enough at 7f in a warm contest like this.

FINAL SONG couldn’t hold her pace in a 1m listed trip on her last run. She ran out of steam there so perhaps cutting back the distance to 7f will help her out. Final Song was fourth in this year’s 1000 Guineas but hasn’t looked up to that level since.

Predictions & Tips for Dubai Duty Free Cup Stakes Racing Odds

JOVIAL to us looks to be a big player in this field and is well worth a look at 11/2* (Betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:21 GMT on Thursday, 17th September 2020). She wasn’t on her game at Newbury last time out, but the further trip should definitely bring more out of her.

D’BAI looks to be in solid nick at the moment and we can see him launching a bold challenge in this one. He has held himself together very well in his last two runs, both at Group level, which means he should have a chance.

The other pick for the trip is the super consistent SYMBOLIZE. He was only just touched off last time out at Haydock and a place finish in the Group 2 Hungerford before that at course and distance signifies some leading claims.
