Ranch Hand seeks to deliver a win as favourite

The current 9/2 favourite for the Copper Horse Handicap is RANCH HAND* (betting odds taken from Boylesports at 22:56 GMT on Tuesday, 16th June 2020). He was last seen at the Cesarewitch at Newmarket in October last year and he found the going way too much in that.

But still, the Andrew Balding-trained charge is being fancied to get back to form. Before that misfired at the Cesarewitch, he had scored a good win at Haydock over 14F. That is three wins in his six starts now and poses a threat to the field in this contest.

COLLIDE
6/1

Boylesports

COLLIDE

5-year-old COLLIDE, trained by Hugo Palmer, has some form behind him. Because of that, he will be taking on the challenge at the top of the weights for this contest.

He is looking for a hattrick as he steps out into action on Wednesday. Collide has really come into his own this year, looking stronger and stronger with those successes at Cagnes-sur-Mer and then Chelmsford City.

He has claims from 6/1* (betting odds taken from Boylesports at 22:56 GMT on Tuesday, 16th June 2020)

FUJAIRA PRINCE

It will be a break of just over a year that FUJAIRA PRINCE returns from. He is worth respecting as well as he does so he looks as if he can handle himself as long as he delivers fresh. Here’s the thing. On his last two returns after breaks of at least 285 days, he has won.

So he enjoys a fresh trip and it’s no surprise to see him towards the head of the market from a current 7/2* (betting odds taken from Boylesports at 22:56 GMT on Tuesday, 16th June 2020). 12 months ago he was in the Duke Of Edinburgh and claimed third place from this same mark.

SELINO

Another one to keep on side is youngster SELINO, a 4-year-old bay gelding. He finished 2019 in some style taking back to back wins at Redcar and then Wolverhampton. The latter was at sixteen and a half furlongs, his longest trip to date.

This is a serious youngster who has not been out of the top three in any of his six racetrack stars. If he hits the ground running fresh, then he can really bring some big claims forward and Selino is currently at 10/1 shot* (betting odds taken from Boylesports at 22:56 GMT on Tuesday, 16th June 2020).

ALRIGHT SUNSHINE

Not one to count out totally, despite form is ALRIGHT SUNSHINE. Last season he was in brilliant progressive nick. He was surging through the campaign. He has had the one run on his return, which was at Newcastle 11 days ago.

Alright Sunshine was 5th of 11 in the Sagaro Stakes in that contest. In total, he has won four of seven flat races. He could feature at 12/1* (betting odds taken from Boylesports at 22:56 GMT on Tuesday, 16th June 2020).

Other Contenders

SHAILENE claimed a couple of wins last season. She was last seen at the Pinnacle Stakes at Haydock, finishing 4th of 5. That was a Group 3 contest which will have sharpened her up.

Earlier this year DUBAI HORIZON was in action at Meydan. He was up in the Nad Al Sheba Trophy and from a 16/1 SP claimed third of nine. That was a seriously good effort but the handicapper hasn’t been all that kind.

Predictions & Tips

This looks as if it is going to be a thrilling contest. Does RANCH HAND have enough to take this? Based on his highly impressive recent success at Haydock, then it would suggest so and he’s likely to get close.

FUJAIRA PRINCE is a fascinating entry to see if he can deliver another win fresh. He should be able to handle himself in this kind of company and has plenty on offer in this market.

COLLIDE has taken massive strides forward with his form this year and looks a big contender. We would expect to see him in the places at the finish. But would go one further and suggest that he has a win in him.

The other that we will note from this field is the exciting youngster SELINO. Like Fujaira Prince this is going to be a test coming in fresh, but in an open contest like this, he has appeal.
