West End Charmer to win wide-open contest?
Heading up the market for the Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes is 6/1 shot WEST END CHARMER* (Betting odds taken from Coral at 04:40 GMT on Thursday, 18th June 2020). He is one to be feared in this contest as well after only the three runs last season.
On his return to the track, less than a couple of weeks ago, he put on a blistering performance to stroll away with a Class 2 Newmarket handicap. He gets an extra 4lb as a penalty for that success.
But it has been back to back wins for him now and he is a seasoned performer who shouldn’t be far away from this one. It’s been four wins in his last seven contests now. He may take some stopping in this final race of the day.
DURSTON
DURSTON is likely to take on plenty of support in the market. He had a good progressive season in the last campaign. He comes back from a gelding operation so there’s likely to be a lot more to come from him.
Durston hasn’t been seen since a Newbury trip in August. But in a period of Goodwood handicap, he went really well, finishing second to Sir Ron Priestly, who went on to claim second in the St Leger.

MEDAL WINNER
Oisin Murphy will be in the saddle for French gelding MEDAL WINNER. He has won his last two trips so is lining up an impressive hattrick shot.
He was last seen at Newcastle just earlier this month when he claimed a two-length victory over Cockalorum.

DEJA
Given the form that he has shown, DEJA retains potential. He had a big three-race winning streak to close out 2018. He was right on the money when he returned from a long break in July last year.
Deja hasn’t been seen since a Newcastle effort last year when he was not in the frame. But four wins from six appearances brings him into the equation from 10/1* (Betting odds taken from Coral at 04:40 GMT on Thursday, 18th June 2020).
Other contenders
EL MISK piques some interest on his return. He scored a good win at Kempton last October. He is highly regarded who was coming on really strongly last season. El Misk could have more to show on his return after a 233 day break.
Predictions & Tips
We would stick with WEST END CHARMER for this final race of Ascot’s Friday card. He was just outstanding at Newmarket recently and that saw his form and quality go up a few notches. He can’t be dismissed.
For all the world MEDAL WINNER looks to be a really good fit for this one, securing a debut handicap success. He has plenty of staying power about him by the looks of it.
A good showing at Goodwood showed some good potential for DURSTON. It’s been about 10 months since he was last seen but has been gelded and even though it has been an extended break, he could bring claims.
