The end of the National Hunt season is upon us as we look forward to this week’s Punchestown Festival.

The big race for Tuesday is the William Hill Champion Chase (Grade 1) and we will be looking at the racing odds for the future.

It’s a big one with another fantastic field taking to the start.

The current favourite in Punchestown Champion Chase betting is CHACUN POUR SOI as he tried to fend off the challenges from the likes of ALLAHO and NUBE NEGRA.

This is a Grade 1 fixture that is open to five-year-olds and above. It is a 2m trip around the venue for the honours.

Punchestown Champion Chase Racing Odds

Chacun Pour Soi 11/8
Allaho 15/8
Nube Negra 4/1
First Flow 12/1
Cilaos Emery 28/1
Castlegrace Paddy 66/1
Daly Tiger 80/1

Can Chacun Pour Soi deliver the odds?

CHACUN POUR SOI was one who was expected to make a big splash at the Cheltenham Festival this year.

He had gone to the Champion Chase as the odds-on favourite but had nothing left up the hill for the finish at Prestbury Park.

It was a third-place finish for Chacun Pour Soi in that one in a race which was won by Put The Kettle On with Nube Negra taking second.

But it would not be a big surprise to see him make a return to form. Chacun Pour Soi had won his three previous runs for the season, all in Ireland.

Chacun Pour Soi is a top-class 9-year-old, no one is going to argue that.

Was he just a little flat on that Cheltenham effort after having put in a huge effort to win the Ladbrokes Dublin Chase in his previous race?

Allaho
15/8

Can Nube Negra get the better of Chacun Pour Soi again?

There was a second-place finish for NUBE NEGRA in the Queen Mother at the Cheltenham Festival recently.

Had it not been for a little mistake at the last, he could easily have gone on to get the better of Put The Kettle On up the hill.

This flatter track is likely going to help his cause even more and he, like the current favourite in this fixture, is a top-class chaser.

Dan Skelton’s gelding had opened the season with a victory at the Grade 2 Desert Orchid Chase at Kempton over Christmas, getting the better of Altior easily.

As a 4 /1 option in Punchestown Champion Chase racing odds, Nube Negra can’t be counted out* (odds recorded at 19:43 GMT on April 26th, 2021)

Can Allaho secure the hattrick?

Willie Mullins, along with Chacun Pour Soi has another big hand in this race with Allaho lining up.

It has been consecutive wins for Allaho, who will have Rachel Blackmore on his back and the tongue strap will be refitted.

Allaho reached a new high when scoring the Ryanair Chase at Cheltenham last month. That was a walk as well, Allaho winning by 12 lengths over Fakir D’ourdaries.

Considering that Fakir D’oudairies went on to win the Melling Chase at Aintree by 11 lengths, then that franked Allaho’s form.

The trip is a little in question, but the 2m distance looks like it is worth a shot.

The concern will be that his front-running tactics won’t work so easily against some speedsters in this one who will look to pick him off late.

Allaho is going to be a very interesting player and comes in as the current 15/8 second-favourite* (odds recorded at 19:43 GMT on April 26th, 2021).

Does First Flow have something to offer?

FIRST FLOW had won his six previous starts before going off to the Cheltenham Festival last month.

He was a long way back in sixth place in the Queen Mother Champion Chase at the Festival, behind a couple of these.

A switch back to a right-handed track is likely to help him along.

First Flow is a top chaser but the firming ground could be something that just hampers his chances on Tuesday.

Kim Bailey’s 9 year old is a quote of 12/1 to pull of the win in Champion Chase racing odds* (odds recorded at 19:43 GMT on April 26th, 2021).

He will be looking for his second Grade 1 victory of his career after having claimed the Clarence House for a top yard in January.

Cilaos Emery

CILAOS EMERY is another who was at the Cheltenham Festival in the Champion Chase recently. He was heavily beaten into eighth place in that contest.

With that in consideration, the 9-year-old doesn’t look to be a huge threat for willie Mullins, who has bigger interests elsewhere.

It has been four wins from seven chase efforts from Cilaos Emery, but this is likely to be a level that’s too big of an ask for him.

Cilaos Emery is a quote of 28/1 to get the victory* (odds recorded at 19:43 GMT on April 26th, 2021).

Castlegrace Paddy

CASTLEGRACE PADDY is coming down in trip for this one, with two of his last three runs have been at half a mile further.

Back in November, he did win the Grade 2 Fortria Chase at Navan, getting the better of A PLUS TARD in the contest, who in turn went on to claim second in the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

But there hasn’t been a winning touch from him and he may find himself out of his depth a little bit at this level.

The win for Castlegrace Paddy is at a quote of 66/1* (odds recorded at 19:43 GMT on April 26th, 2021).

Daly Tiger

Making up the numbers in the contest is DALY TIGER who doesn’t look any kind of threat in the contest.

He picked up a victory at Fairyhouse in January before finding Cilaos Emery too good for him in a Grade 3 contest at Naas.

It’s not the worst of form, but this is a high-quality race that just demands hotter form coming into it.

On his last run, Daly Tiger was heavily beaten at Navan and goes as an 80/1 shot here* (odds recorded at 19:43 GMT on April 26th, 2021).

Predictions & Tips for Champion Chase Racing Odds

This is such a strong race. Our favouritism is going towards ALLAHO to get the glory from a quote of 15/8* (odds recorded at 19:43 GMT on April 26th, 2021).

His performance in the Ryanair was staggering and coming down on a trip from that, he piques all sorts of interest. A bold run could see him steal the show.

It’s hard to imagine that CHACUN POUR SOI won’t be in it. He is too good not to be and that misfire at the Cheltenham Festival was probably a timing issue more than anything.

The other main player that we see is Dan Skelton’s NUBE NEGRA at4/1* (odds recorded at 19:43 GMT on April 26th, 2021).

He really should have won the Queen Mother at the Festival and after lowering the colours of Altcor at Kempton, deserves respect in this contest.
